Strava for Powerlifters

I’ve been using Kauntor a little over a month now and have been really enjoying how useful it has been as a tool in my powerlifting journey. I was never interested in velocity based tracking prior to this app because I am fundamentally a lazy person and the idea of having more gadgets in my already over-stuffed gym bag to track an additional piece of data wasn’t something I was willing to invest in.

Enter Kauntor: an app that analyzes videos that I record for my coach and gives me extra information on how fast the bar speed is going, as well as visualizing the bar path that helps inform any adjustments my coach and I need to make after each session. The app is incredibly useful in letting you trim down videos for the main lifts (instead of having to edit the videos on your own phone and then upload it in the app) and allows for downloading the videos that show the velocity and bar path of each compound lift. I really enjoy the feature of comparing different videos side-by-side. The AI is incredibly accurate, and you can even adjust analysis so that the velocity and bar path analysis are even more accurate. One thing to consider is that the analysis is the most accurate when you only show the lift and not your entire set up, so definitely edit your videos in the app before analyzing it.

In terms of analysis: you can either do a simple speed analysis, or a speed+form analysis. I’ve mostly been using speed, but the times I’ve used the speed+form analysis has been helpful. I still need to trial out the speed+form analysis before I give more feedback there, but it is nice to know that there are multiple analysis options. I haven’t tried using my apple watch to do more accurate analysis because for awhile, I was using a super old one that couldn’t handle the app, but now that my better half got me a new one, I’ll start trialing the apple watch analysis at some point.

One thing I do like is that you only need the footage your recorded to have an analysis of. your barspeed and form. Not requiring an external device to get that analysis is honestly a huge reason why I even looked into Kauntor in the first place.

Social wise: If you are shy and want to keep things private, you can! And if you want to be social, you can follow others too! If you only want to follow friends, that is possible too!

I am still trying out various features – such as working syncing up with other athletes who are using the app, food tracking, the apple watch for accurate analysis of pause work – and so far, I have loved every feature the app offers. As someone who really enjoys tracking progress, having an app dedicated to tracking the weight and videos of my sessions is incredibly helpful.

Lastly, I want to give a shoutout to the customer service on this app. They have been incredibly supportive and helpful from the very start, and it’s because of their incredible helpfulness that I was willing to give the app I try – and I’m so, SO glad I did.

tl;dr – if you like filming and analyzing a lot of your videos and sessions and want a place to store them, I highly recommend the premium features of this app.

Response from developer

Thank you so much for such a thorough and thoughtful review! We really appreciate the support and all the detailed feedback. So glad to hear Kauntor has been a useful tool in your powerlifting journey!

Great App for the price

Honestly very satisfied with everything this app provides so far. Built in VBT has reliable data to track. Can track nutrition and cardio all in one place not to mention your weight lifting sessions. Price is very affordable as well for full features. Can also keep track of my clients using the app.

This is the powerlifting app you’ve been waiting for.

I saw an add one day for this app I have somehow never heard of. Well it exactly what I was hoping for. I really think this is the best tool to keep track of the data you would need on a weekly basis or to have a portal for athlete-to-coach communication. The video analysis is pretty impressive for the power of the iPhone. Given it crashed a few times, I wasn’t bothered by it. When I found out I could use this app ON THE MACBOOK I lost it. I downloaded it immediately and to my surprise, it ran so much better than the iPhone could probably ever. The Mac version of this app is really mind-blowing in how it’s recognized. The updates for this app have also been consistent and successful. To the developers, keep up the great work. You guys are doing a great job. -T

Great training & nutrition app

I’ve been enjoying using the app for analyzing my Squat and Deadlift for speed, power output and rep efficiency, all without the need to have a physical device tethered to my barbell. I’m also enjoying the ease of use to log my meals and keep a close eye on my daily and weekly macros, with AI features that take the guesswork out of logging your nutrition intake. The ability to integrate your cardio seamlessly with your strength work or treat it separately is very convenient as well. I look forward to using all the new features they have in the roadmap.

Highly Reccomend.

So easy to track calories and workouts. Would definitely recommend to those trying to dial in their training, it really helps kick your accountability up a notch.

“Strava for lifters”

Kauntor is like Strava and MyFitnessPal/CalAI combined — but with strength tracking features you won’t find anywhere else. I can log runs, rides, meals, and even analyze my lifts all in one place.
