Disappointing changes to the app
The upgrade to the app no longer allows sharing a story nor can the photos be enlarged for better viewing.
Advertising has become a blaring noise when opening stories. I’m disappointed with all of this because this site was “my go-to” for news.

New App 👎🏻
I am not pleased with the new app at all. It constantly shows unread messages/alerts when they have been read. It forces you to watch ads that cannot be turned off which is very unappealing and was NOT a part of the old app. I’m all about changes but when the features in the new app fail users then you cannot embrace or support the new version. A fix is not only needed it’s become a necessity to keep your viewers. I am contemplating removing it all together if not updated to be better soon.

App Not Clearing Notifications
After going into the app and reading all the alerts in the app, then going out of the app it still shows a red notification circle on the app.
New update is terrible
The old app was perfectly fine. I could go see videos if I wanted to, but now every time I open an article I’m blasted with a commercial that refuses to stop playing in order to see the article that I could’ve read fast faster than the entire ad that played. Why are we so reliant on not reading anymore? What is happening to literacy? Why can’t we all just read the article and if I wanted to watch the actual news video, I would turn on the news. Bring back the old app.

Full Page Ad Hijacks Screen
Latest 2025 update loads full page ad shortly after you open app. Then no way to exit. So must fully close app and reload. Suggest using other local news app.
Awesome reporting
Of all the KC local news apps, KCTV5 consistently has the best reporting. The articles and recordings are fact based, researched, show the larger impact of the story, and are clearly communicated without drama. Thank you, KCTV5! You give us hope in our modern-day truth-fiasco.

App Constantly Crashing
Anytime an article is opened the screen goes white after ~5-10 secs of being opened. It’s literally impossible to read any of the articles and has been doing this for over a month. Is there an update with fixes coming??
69 year-old grandmother held kidnapped in independence home
I’m very disappointed with KCTV5 News because the story leaked out about myself. I was never kidnapped. I live in the residence.. the story had very little truth to it . I was never contacted and my son lost his job because of this newscast.

App continually crashes and screen goes white / can’t read article after selecting notification. This used to be my favorite app but now thinking about switching.

Unable to watch Price chopper Game Day. It’s not an option once you click “Game Day”
Very Poor Sports coverage
Just watched TV5’s 10 oclock news. You highlighted KU’s men’s bball game, MU’s men’s bball game, and the Mavericks game. It appears you don’t recognize women’s basketball - KSU women won their bball game by 26 points tonight (they’re nationally ranked also). With this type of coverage there’s no reason to watch TV5!

App version 131.0.13 Immediately crashes on opening iPad Air model MD785LL/, A1474 iOS version 12.5.7 (16H81). App has been uninstalled, cache cleared, iPad restarted, version 131.0.13 reinstalled. Still crashes. App only requires iOS 12.0 or later.
Audio domination
I like the app, but opening the app unnecessarily takes over the audio on my phone. I like to scroll the news while listening to a podcast…I immediately lose my poscast when I open this app. I’d give it 5 stars if that was fixed. Take over audio when/if I play a video, but otherwise, please let me scroll while listening to something else.
