The pairing works but !!
So just to give an insight, I was at first also struggling to pair my King Blade to the app so I can have customized colours.
I did some digging and found on their official site’s FAQ page regarding this issue (and machine translate the page). The steps for pairing the pen light is you MUST turn on the pen light first BEFORE you have it enter pairing/bluetooth mode. You can’t just turn the pen light straight to pairing mode, it will not work that way. After reading the instructions, I never had a hassle since.
I thought would share this info to save others suffering when they buy the King Blade and thought the pairing function was broken.

Cannot connect
I bought a new king blade and cannot connect to Bluetooth. To pair it’s similar to the older version but it does not show up to connect to any of my devices.
