Great idea, so-so execution

I wanted to love this app, but it’s glitchy. Once you are going it usually works pretty well. But my heart rate doesn’t always read properly. Sometime dropping out for sections of the workout. I don’t have this problem with ERG Data with the Concept2.

I could also not get it to work with “project to other screen”. I tried my Quest 3, MacBook Pro, Apple TV, and iPad. No dice. Mirroring the screen to the Apple TV works though. Just not through the app’s own protocol.

Sometimes it takes a few times to connect to the PM5 too. Requiring me to back out of the map and reconnect each time. But I have never had it disconnect from the PM5 during a session.

If they could fix those issues I would give it a 5. I used to frequently kayak the Chicago River when I lived there. It was fun to row there virtually and being able to use the familiar buildings along the way telling me how long I had to go by memory.

Waste ur money

This app quality is worth 10$ one time MAX. A hidden monthly fee after I buy the rower from the ad showing online row. Both apps charge u like 15$ a month for quality I won’t even bother using from the 7 day free trial . I won’t use it for free . I’m not even a quality snob . Just does not work as it should less annoying using the plain screen . This is for people who buy it then DONT go through the 5 step cancelation process - forget it and get charged

Works half the time

When it works it’s fine but the app will randomly close/crash during rides and there is no way to restart on your current ride. Very annoying for tracking progress and having smooth, long sessions.

Great app, one improvement for 5 stars

Got Kinomap as a free trial with my treadmill and it's a great app. Good choice of mountain trails, and the app adjusts the treadmill incline to match the trail. Solid selection of structured workouts, and it syncs well with Strava.

One suggestion that would make it 5 stars. Weekly ascent is a key metric in my training, which I track on Strava. At the moment the app logs ascent from the trail's elevation profile, regardless of the incline the treadmill is actually set to. In workout mode it doesn't record any incline or ascent at all. If workouts calculated ascent from the treadmill's actual incline and published it to Strava, the app would be perfect.

I'll be setting up the bike on the Kickr over winter and will give that a go too.

Apple TV app is substandard

I love using Kinomap as a workout tool with my water rower, WHEN it’s not buffering on my Apple TV 4K on a gigabit fiber connection.

What brought me here, however, is that the TV app no longer recognizes my annual subscription and is artificially limiting access to maps.

I have six months to shop for alternatives. The app developers have six months to fix Kinomap.
