Better than MUBI?

As a family we currently subscribe to Netflix and Amazon Prime, and have access to BBC iPlayer too, though mainly watching TV series on Netflix however. I watched the trailer for Klassiki on Instagram recently after I imagine an algorithm suggested it to my feed. I loved the (especially modern/contemporary) cinema clips I saw. I'd had MUBI membership for a few years (it used to be free for educators!) but once it expired and I couldn't renew it (for free!) I stopped. I've always loved the film's of Bela Tarr and Tarkovski, for instance, as well as others from Europe (Fellini, Godard, Wenders, Kieślowski, Antonioni and Truffaut etc.) I especially love SLOW meditative cinema. With the current (as of July '24) offer of 1/2 price viewing for a year (!!!) I have jumped in. I watched Bread and Salt yesterday (on my phone) and it was excellent. Provocative, intelligent, beautiful and poignant. I recommend Klassiki. Anything that gets Mark Cousins onboard is surely good. I'm be streaming others on my 4k smart TV via airplay. Aside from the streaming services itself, I think the app is really well designed. Explore, with guided categories, search for films, directors etc. Very clear and easy. Enjoy. 5 stars from me.

Fascinating streaming catalogue

Klassiki features so many interesting films that wouldn’t have have been otherwise accessible. Additionally, the site has great UI, and additional features like quality video essays and programme notes. 10/10!!! ❤️

No platform

I love the idea of an app dedicated to the fascinating one a of Eastern English. I look forward to one being developed that works on all platforms and that can be streamed on my TV. Unfortunately this is not it. Trying to get it to work has been a completely frustrating experience. I have tried using the internet, downloader, airplay and there is either no sound or no subtitles or in the case of downloader nothing but for about 5 minutes before the whole thing freezes.

Before purchasing take advantage of a trial subscription to make sure it works and don’t waste your money on an annual subscription like I have.

I can watch the movies on my iPad but quite frankly the ‘cinematic’ experience is lost on an 11 inch screen.

Klassiki is amazing!

There’s never been a better time than to support films from the countries of the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe.

It’s wonderful to watch films by talented directors in the Ukrainian, Georgian, Armenian and Romanian languages, as well as independent voices from Russia, Poland and Central Asia, alongside the best of Soviet cinema. I also really love the animation section!
