Needs Zoom Feature

I really wanted to love this app because I’ve been manually blurring photos of my kids for years now. Though I love the idea of the auto blur of Kloak, when it comes to editing photos, I’m unable to zoom in to get blur on the tiny little faces. I also don’t see the feather blur available. Hope it gets better because I’m willing to subscribe to it in the future!

Reliable and honest

My partner and I have chosen to keep our daughters photos off of social media for a number of reasons, and this app allows for us to share photos and videos while still keeping her privacy.

Bummer!

Wanted to love this. The concept is amazing and so appreciated. Unfortunately, it’s just not that great, and a real pain to truly blur your child’s face throughout an entire video. The tracking feature just simply doesn’t work and you have to manually adjust if you want your child’s face covered throughout. Maybe this will be great after some more development, but for now, I’m canceling my subscription before this free trial ends 💔

Clunky and buggy

It’s so unfortunate that this app is so clunky because what’s advertised is such a great idea!

The blurs/emojis/pic you use to “Kloak” when it does it automatically on a video is all over the shop. Eg on a video of my daughter and husband, it didn’t Kloak my daughter initially at all, just my husbands face, then his face wasn’t kloaked but his ear was, then it would jump back to his face, then randomly at the end it kloaked my daughters face.

I tried fiddling/editing the Kloak but it’s so fiddly and clunky and time consuming. I just gave up on the end on that video. Tried another video, and also a group photo with some kids and it was just as clunky each time. Such a shame!

Revised Review

I wish it would let me go back and change my previous 3 star to a 5, but I’ll make a new one! I already praised the time and attention the owner is putting into constantly improving the app to make it easier and this most recent update was PHENOMENAL. Thank you so much, it’s MUCH more user friendly, seamless and fast.

So thankful for this app

I’m so happy there is a user friendly way to blur or cover faces in a cuter way than I was doing before. I’m really thankful for the ability to quickly and smoothly cover my baby’s face before posting videos or photos on social media. I also love how much the creator takes user feedback into consideration… it seems like they truly want to continue making this app better with every iteration. Thank you, thank you for this awesome app!

So impressed

I love how proactive the app developer has been in listening to feedback and adding in functions. When I first started using Kloak I had issues with the app thinking bubbles were faces, causing many headaches for me trying to remove hundreds of blurs on bubbles. Each time I’ve opened the app there have been updates and improvements in its ability to track faces which has made it smoother and less work for me. Absolutely love this app as a child entertainer and highly recommend it.

Great idea but not execution

While the app does what it says, the amount of features locked behind a paywall are too many that it feels like restrictions instead of premium features. Add to that the forced watermark smack down the middle of the video you're trying to post online and it might as well be a paid app. At least with a less intrusive watermark (i.e. semi-transparent and/or on a corner) I could see the argument beng made for the paid features being a premium cost.

Slow app and almost ineffective

I’ve been trying to use this app since i found it as it went viral, and I’m trying sooo hard to love it but I can’t. It’s slow, and it takes sooo long just to add a ‘Kloak” onto a person. I thought it would automatically Kloak a person for the whole video, but for whatever reason it only does part of the video - leaving you to do the manual hard work and 99% the time I want to give up because that’s how timely it is. There should be a feature BEFORE uploading and rendering the whole video to eleven WHO you want to Kloak. I feel like this could potentially speed up the process of using this app if we could choose. So all in all, I love this concept, but there’s a lot of work to be done.

Hi RachelMomolina, Really appreciate this feedback, thank you. I see you were on version 1.2 when you wrote this review. We have since released 2 new updates that should help with the issues you're having. Specifically, there is a "manual" button on the bottom right that will import the video instantly into the editor. From there you can select which faces you'd like the app to track and cover instead of waiting for Kloak to cover them all initially. can’t get any video to open in it

i’ve tried to open several 1-3min videos in the app and it crashes immediately everytime.

Overpriced nonsense

I’d be willing to pay a few bucks for an app with this feature, but a $40 per year subscription is absurd.

Fab app

This app is so good for protecting little ones. Of course there were a few kinks when it first launched but easy enough to fix yourself and then the update has been great. Really recommend this app!

Good Idea But Still Needs A Lot Of Work

A friend sent me an ad for this app and I thought “wow, this is just what I have been looking for.” Unfortunately, the app is very glitchy and is not as easy or seamless to use as other reviewers have mentioned. One example is when it auto-blurs it has soft edges, if I add a new blur Kloak now it’s this rough, ugly looking square. Sometimes when I go add a new Kloak the app freezes. If you split a blur and then delete the part you don’t want, it deletes the whole blur. One time I spent about 2 hours fixing the auto-blurs, and when I got to the last few frames the app crashed. When I got back in it said the video file didn’t exist and I had to start all over. If the subscription were cheaper I could maybe overlook these issues, but at $8 a month for it not to be a super easy, and user-friendly app, it’s just not worth it.

I do see you wrote this review while on version 1.1 and I wanted to let you know if you update the app today, you will see a lot of your frustrations should be resolved. Bugs we fixed that you brought up in your review that are now fixed: 1. The "Add Kloak" has feathered edges now 🪶 2. We got rid of the ugly square 🥳 3. You can draw a custom Kloak Mask OR add an oval shape 4. The bug where you wanted to delete only part of the layer would result to the entire layer being deleted is fixed. ✅ Could you please email me at hello@kloakapp.com? I’m obsessed!!!

I love sharing videos but I don’t like putting my son’s face online. This is so much better than blurring his face using other tools, which takes forever. This is literally going to save so much time. Thank you!!!

Love this app & the time it’s saving me!

I am a full time parenting content creator who does not show my kids’ faces online. Suffice to say, it has been very difficult and time consuming to cover their faces with emojis, especially if they’re moving around in the video, and this app has already saved me so much time! Plus, the Kloaks you can choose from are adorable. Highly recommend!
