A sampler to get out of your way and let’s ideas flow
This app is incredible! It gets out of your way and feels more like working with tape; it guides your songs forward rather than fixating on micro tweaks etc.

This developer has given the iOS audio ecosystem a gift with this app. The price point is insane. So inexpensive for what this app does. The in app purchases are not overpriced.

The best sampler and great sequencer
This is exactly what you would want in a sampler. It works just like an sp-404 one of the best hardware samplers on the market. You can open it in any setting or use it alone. You can mix and edit samples just like you would on a professional sampler. The effects are nice and if you can master it you’ll be sampling anything you can.
This is very close to being as good as any hardware sampler you could find. Especially if you have a mastering suite with full effx. If you don’t have anything to sample there’s IAP of some pretty nice kits. The samples you import can be played in any scale on a key based sequencer, so midi notes essentially.
You can use hardware. I use my hardware samplers and synths with it. Makes for a great experience. You can just hold down on a square and record into one of the squares. Edit to add spice. Works great with all of my gear. Just when you think sampling was perfected on iOS and Mac they go and make this little sp 404 clone. Saved me 500 bux I was going to buy an sp 404. Instead I added to my analog synth-collection that I can record into this cool little app.

By far the best iOS sampler, though by now I often prefer it to my hardware ones. Koala and an iPad make an unbeatable combination. Simple, immediate, fun, creative, couldn’t be easier to use yet it allows deep editing when you need it. iOS music apps don’t get better than this.

This app does exactly what you want a sampler to do efficiently and, most importantly, SIMPLY. Music production software can be so daunting with endless effects and “functionality”. But Koala just does what you want without being overwrought with pointless extras. And for the price? Nothing comes close.

I absolutely adore this app, and it only gets reinforced every time an update gets pushed. I started using this app probably around 5 years ago and already loved it, but since then they’ve pushed out a synth, Stem splitter, AU plugin integration, and a steady stream of new bus effects including a vocoder.
(I am not sure how much of this is in the free version but like it’s 5 bucks with no subscription bs)
Today, I opened the app to find a new button for an arpeggiator, and my body and spirit were forcibly compelled to write this review. This is literally my daily interface with music making and I really doubt it will ever stop being that. Genuinely, thank you so much for this amazing app, please keep up the great work.

The Don for beatmaking on IOS !
This sampler, hands down is the best app for beat making on an iPad. Thank you !!! Everything can always be improved. It would be cool if we could map the sample bank buttons to our midi controllers, and change each sequence to a different bpm 😉
Best for Producers and Beginners
Record anything anywhere and get an idea down quick. Import to your DAW if you want. Do some sound design. Download some extra synths and effects, load them in, resample them, chop em up. Truly endless for sound design and beat making in a way that is excellent on mobile. Highly recommend
Koala keeps getting better
A 50 $ used iPad can triple the feature set of your sp404mk2
Should cost a lot more
This $5 app does pretty much everything a $1000 hardware sampler can do. Any wannabe music creator that's looking for a place to start should play with this for a while. I have Ableton 12 Suite and $2k worth of plugins and I'm spending hours messing around with this. Plus it's super portable. I like it more on my ipad mini than on my 10.2" because it's mad easy to use the pads with both thumbs while holding it.
The value of this is just nuts.

Workflow et lisibilité, c’est le meilleur pocket sampler et de loin.
Il me manque juste :
- l’automation (big request)
- a transport bar in the sample section (play stop at least)
- a song mode (an old fashioned playlist of the sequences will be find)
- adjustable volume for previews in the sample selection section

Exceptional App
Ridiculous value. Amazing feature set. Very intuitive and easy to use, yet extremely powerful. Super fun. I enjoy making music through Koala more than any other tool. Even desktop DAWs!

This app goes from strength to strength with regular updates and over the last couple of years has absolutely excelled beyond anything else for music production! Samples, auv3 sweet little 4 track mixer. Absolutely outstanding bit of kit!
Tips
I ain’t gonna lie if y’all make it to where you can transpose fast and then add automations and the piano roll area like in the like in a sequence it’ll be over with bro if y’all add automations and transposing is overweight

Hopefully the app will allow me to change my review. My apologies. I assumed the item/s came wit an update. The funny thang is I wuz on the right track when lookin in the folders. I did go to Get More Samples, but didn’t click on anything.
I wuz expectin it to be a download of sum kind. Which it is… but my mind wuz thinkin it wuz an update download. Raised my stars to 5. I wonder if in the future an undo button will be added?

Can’t believe I didn’t grab this sooner! This app is amazing. The UI is super intuitive. Having as much fun as I’ve had on gear that costs 30 times the price even after including the samurai and mixer add ons. Resampling, effects, editing clips, arranging. This app does it all. I will say that the add ons are a must. The export to Ableton is a great feature too! Don’t be like me and waste time waiting to buy this app. Just do it.
