Counterintuitive layout
Seriously, is it that hard to include a date and timestamp in Notification Center entries? Sometimes I really need to know WHEN such events happen, not simply THAT they happen.
Terrible verification and support experience
I spent four days trying to verify my identity with KOHO. As an international student, I explained from the beginning that I do not have Canadian government-issued photo ID.
Different agents repeatedly asked me for my passport, study permit, selfies, student ID, RBC account linking, bank statements, and proof of address. I submitted everything, sometimes more than once.
One agent eventually confirmed in writing that my identity had been successfully verified and that my profile was fully set up. However, the app and website still showed my account as unverified. After that, other agents simply sent me back to the beginning and again asked for Canadian photo ID.
I understand that financial institutions need strict KYC procedures. The problem here was KOHO’s extremely poor internal coordination, contradictory responses, and repeated requests for sensitive documents that had already been submitted.
After nearly three days of being passed between agents, I gave up on KOHO entirely.

Locked out of account
It has been months since I have been able to login to my KOHO account, I had $50 in savings and whatever in spendings and I can not access the account. It just keeps asking for technical support after confirming my number with an access code. I don’t understand and need to access that money NOW.
I have tried to call the number on the back of my KOHO card as well and it won’t go thru, won’t even ring.

It’s not a reliable app
It’s not a reliable app. It gives you errors with almost everything you try to do, and you have to spend a long time talking to a support agent just to get things resolved, while similar apps work smoothly without all the hassle.

Credit building is a scam - it will never build your credit but they will charge you for it monthly.
They do not have security. If your account is hacked, or money is taken from you, you will speak to AI for weeks. The only way to speak to a human is once you’ve decided to cancel KOHO.

Was trying to login when I got the two step verification and for some reason it had switched from my number to someone else’s in my family. I haven’t changed anything with the settings of my number I had also verified it. So now I have money on an account that I can’t access.
