About

Welcome to LabCompanion — the lab bench in your pocket. • 10 lab calculators: dilution, molarity, Tm, cell counting, buffer pH, centrifuge RCF↔RPM and more • Multi-step protocol timers with background step alerts and Lock Screen Live Activities • Offline reference: codon & amino-acid tables, restriction enzymes, antibiotics, ladders, buffer recipes, safety symbols • Lab Notebook with photos, tags, search and PDF export (Premium) • iCloud sync across your devices • Free to use — unlock Premium once, no subscription ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ LabCompanion puts the whole bench in your pocket. The calculators, protocol timers, and reference cards every wet-lab scientist reaches for, in one fast, offline-first app. No subscription. Unlock Premium once. Lab calculators that just work Dilution (C₁V₁=C₂V₂), molarity, serial dilution, primer Tm, centrifuge RCF↔RPM, cell counting, buffer pH, % solution, resuspension, and DNA/RNA concentration — all unit-aware, with copy-ready results and European-comma support. Protocol timers that don't need babysitting Build multi-step protocols and run them with automatic step progression. Background notifications fire at every step — even while your phone is locked — and a Live Activity keeps the countdown on your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island, so you don't have to keep the screen awake. Reference cards, offline Codon and amino-acid tables, restriction enzymes, antibiotic working concentrations, DNA/protein ladders, buffer recipes, unit conversions, and lab safety symbols — always available, no signal needed. Lab Notebook (Premium) Capture observations and photos at the bench, organise with tags, search instantly, and export any note to PDF. Everything syncs privately across your devices with iCloud. Free to use. Premium is a one-time unlock — no card needed to try it, and there's nothing to cancel.

What's New in LabCompanion

1.1

November 3, 2026

New Gel Band Sizer. Photograph your agarose gel or SDS-PAGE, pick your ladder, and read the sizes off. Works for DNA (bp), RNA (nt) and protein (kDa). It refuses rather than guesses. Bands outside the ladder's range, a ladder it can't read unambiguously, RNA on a non-denaturing gel or uncut plasmid get no number at all — always with the reason why. Nine ladders with band values checked against the manufacturers' own datasheets (NEB, Thermo GeneRuler and RiboRuler, Proteintech), each with a link to its source. New: LabCompanion now shows a "What's New" screen after an update so you can see what changed. It stays available from Settings. Everything is computed on your phone. Your gel photos never leave the device, and the sizer works with no internet. Ads are gone — completely. No advertising, no tracking, no analytics. Timers are accurate now. Pocket your phone mid-protocol and the countdown is still right when you come back. You get a sound and a haptic when a step finishes, including while the app is open. 12 ready-made protocols instead of one: PCR, western blot, transformation, gel electrophoresis, miniprep, ELISA, autoclaving and more. Three are free. Protocols can now be edited, deleted and favourited. Steps can run for hours, not just minutes — overnight incubations finally work. Lab notebook PDF export fixed: it was blank in dark mode and cut long notes off after one page. The Tm calculator now uses the same method names and salt correction as NEB and Thermo Fisher. Real GHS hazard pictograms instead of approximate icons. Settings has a new look, with a Light, Dark or System appearance option. If notifications were turned off, Settings now shows why step alerts stopped and links straight to iOS Settings to turn them back on.
