Not worth it and misleading

Using the ai to learn was kind of annoying. One minute I’m learning basic words the next it’s using phrases and words it’s never gone over before and expects me to answer. What pushed me to write a review was their subscription options and their free trial. The app’s help center instructs users to cancel through Settings, but the iOS app has no Settings menu. I had to dig through emails to find out where to cancel my subscription so I wasn’t charged $100. Please add an obvious ‘Manage Subscription’ or ‘Billing’ option in the app, or update your help article so it matches the current interface. To me it seems sneaky. Most free trial subscriptions go through Apple and you can cancel on the App Store. You can’t do that with pingo ai.

$100 a year and it takes you to a separate site to pay or start a trial to make it a PITA to cancel lol nah. Nice try though.

One boring lesson on the first day

I'm canceling this because of how little I can use it on the first day of the trial. All I get is four greetings? I told you I took 10 years of Spanish. I don't have patience to get to the level that I'm actually at

Great idea, not great execution

I was super excited about the idea of an app that I could use while I was walking the dog or just hanging out. Unfortunately, it’s terrible at processing what you say. Getting through a lesson is very difficult because it’s constantly misunderstanding.

They will not email you to warn you and refuse to refund you. What a scammy company. The software isn’t even good anyway, it doesn’t recognize what you’re saying. SCAM SCAM SCAM

Sound is poor, ai is worse

Been using this thing for months as I forgot to cancel the free trial. The volume is usually very low or the audio of poor quality. The ai can’t understand you the majority of the time, even when pronouncing a word perfectly. Big disappointment, I’ll have to keep looking for a good language learning app.
*Deleted the app not too long ago, such a disappointment*

Tout simplement inutilisable

Vu les vidéos Instagram on se dit que cette appli sera pratique, mais des le premier exercice on a beau articuler à se démembrer la mâchoire et tout dire correctement, l’ia comprend toujours autre chose et on ne peut as avancer c’est insupportable. Exercice 2 on nous fait apprendre à demander un train … à l’aéroport ???
Prix exorbitant pour être énervé à chaque exercice, j’arrête là la période d’essai. Il vaut mieux une appli avec de vraies personnes pour apprendre plutôt qu’une énième ia qui détruit la planète

Scam

I purchased it and tried to cancel because I just wanted to try it out it DIDNT let me. I tried looking in my purchases history but it wasn’t there now my mom is being charged 100 dollars for no reasons i even deleted the app this is such a scam. I do enjoy the learning and the corrections but I can’t cancel it and now my mom is upset.

Tempo de espera para falar

Seria ótimo se tivéssemos a opção de treinar cada palavra que o Pingo falou antes de repetirmos. Estou tentando estudar o coreano. Ela passa algumas frases mais curtas e em seguida uma frase enorme a qual eu não treinei deito. Vou tentar clicar na opção para ouvir a pronúncia ou a descrição do que falar mas já não dá tempo porque ela já está ali ouvindo e esperando uma resposta e em seguida já pula para a próxima. Seria o ideal termos mais tempo para treinar e talvez um botão para quando estivéssemos prontos para falar. Tem muitos erros que ela deixa passar despercebido também.

Not great

The app has made many listening mistakes, including hearing bonjour when I said au revoir. It’s slow and annoying and has started at the most basic of basics even though I submitted a higher level.

Not useful for less popular languages

I kinda expected it tbh because I think most language learning apps struggle with Dutch but the AI is so demeaning and annoying while also just being wrong about pronunciation, I have to speak in a very stereotypical American accent when speaking in Dutch or it just doesn’t understand it at all which is kinda insane when the whole purpose of using an AI app like this is to help with speaking and accents and pronunciation

This wasn’t a great app for me

I saw this app on TikTok and thought that it would really help me with my Spanish but when I told my mom that you had to pay just for the first lesson I had to delete it so I think if you didn’t make us pay for our first lesson or just to have a free trial it would be better

Completely Broken!

Update: after the review below the app reset. It also cannot find my account so has no record of my payment. It has NO customer service but uses Link instead. This is bordering on fraud.

Apart from being expensive, the AI often does not actually listen. It expects native pronunciation and does not actually explain the language. It does not really answer questions but gives patronizing responses as to how it listens and the process and be frustrating. Tends to be inconsistent by changing the words it presents and expects you to say.

The software is fundamentally broken, poorly coded, and designed by people who care more about taking your subscription money than building something that actually works.
