What's New in Laytr

1.0.16

October 20, 2026

This update is about the Privacy switches, plus a few fixes. Settings > Privacy now says how the two switches start: both on, and turning either one off stops it. With “Share anonymous usage” off, Laytr no longer contacts our analytics service at all, and switching it off deletes any usage events still waiting to be sent. It used to fetch one small settings file from that service when the app opened, and could still send usage events recorded before the switch went off. Laytr is also more careful with files that arrive through sync or in an imported archive. One with a bad name is refused instead of being saved in the wrong place. Import and export errors now appear in your language. In Arabic, the count beside each case in the Library uses the same digits as the rest of the app.

User reviews

Conceptually good, but man is this thing ugly

I get what it is trying to do, I really do. First, and probably most important, hats off for the native private approach to the app. That Rocks!!! The entire idea of being able to return to something, beyond just safari book marks, is compelling. But the UI is, well, a curious design choice. It’s jarring to say the least and detracts from the possible value that the app may have. I say possible, because I can see the possibilities but I can’t get past the UI. That’s never been a problem for me, but maybe I’m not in the target audience

Great Design

Great app and great design. You can tell the developer really cares about the app and their customers.

Response from developer

Thank you, that means a lot to us. If anything ever feels off, write to support@laytr.app and we'll read it.

The Read Later Anywhere App

There are a lot of read-later apps, but this one works in a way that works for me. Instead of letting an interesting article go by because I just don’t have the time to read it now, I can quickly save it to Laytr and know that it’s waiting for me whenever I have time to read—even if I’m offline. That’s all I need, but you can also set reminders to receive notifications about articles later when you think you may have time. It’s a great app, and a great UI.

Response from developer

Thank you! That's exactly the moment we built Laytr for: save it now, find it waiting when you have time. Glad the reminders help too.

Exactly what I was looking for

Functionally speaking, this does exactly what I was looking for. It is a bit quirky to get used to, but I do love the color scheme and font, which is a bit unique. I would love it if they had an annual plan for under 10 bucks however as I don’t need it very often, but super nice to have when I do want it.

Response from developer

Thank you, and thanks for the honest note on price. We hear you on the annual plan. Your saves now also sync across iPhone, iPad and Mac through your own iCloud.

Not sure

Love the app and I think it has value. I appreciate the privacy too. Just not sure of the UI and the strange fonts. Still worthy of 5 stars, because from what I can tell, it DOES work well. Before I buy a lifetime, I want to use it for a while and put it through the paces.

Response from developer

Thanks for giving it a real try. The type is a deliberate choice, but you can switch the reader's font in its display options. If any screen is hard to read, tell us at support@laytr.app and we'll look at it.
