About
Leafwake is an unofficial companion app for the Nissan LEAF. You sign in with your own Nissan owner account and it shows what the car has already told Nissan. No dongle, no wiring, nothing plugged in.
WHAT IT SHOWS
• Charge, range and odometer, with a plain label saying how old the reading is. A four-hour-old figure says so rather than pretending to be live.
• A likely range worked out from your own recent efficiency and the local forecast, split into town and motorway. On a cold day it will disagree with the dashboard guess, and that disagreement is the point.
• Charging: whether the car is plugged in and charging, and a button to start a charge remotely.
• Climate: warm the car up or cool it down before you leave.
• Trips: miles, kWh, efficiency, recovered braking and time driving, for today and this month. Nissan keeps these totals on its side, so they stay current even while the car sleeps.
• Charge alerts: a notification when charging starts or stops. The check reads Nissan's copy of the status, so it never wakes the car and costs the 12V battery nothing.
HONEST ABOUT WHAT IT CANNOT DO
Nissan activates remote features per vehicle. If your subscription does not cover climate or locking, Leafwake greys those rows out and says which ones Nissan has not switched on, instead of failing without explanation. Renewing turns them on here with no app update.
Alerts arrive when the car reports to Nissan, which can lag by several minutes, and iOS decides for itself when to run a background check. Opening the app always refreshes straight away.
Battery state of health, cell voltages and pack temperature live in the car's own battery controller, and Nissan never puts them on the cloud at any subscription. Reading them needs an OBD adapter, which iPhone cannot talk to. Those rows are shown and labelled rather than quietly hidden.
When Nissan's own service is down, nothing works. This app included.
NOT A NISSAN APP
Leafwake is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Nissan. Nissan and LEAF are trademarks of their respective owner, used here only to say which car this works with. Signing in happens on Nissan's own page; the app keeps only the resulting token, in the iOS Keychain, and it never sees your password.
Built by one LEAF owner in the UK, for their own car first.
