Mostly positive

App works great with the SL2s. Connects quickly, transfers photos quickly as well. Sadly, it still doesn’t work well with the T and TL2 for years. Often disconnects connection, will not transfer photos and just hangs in “downloading”, etc. App is basically unusable for the T and TL2 and I’ve tried it across many different phones. Always the same problems. Overall, great app. Please address the issues with the T series cameras, Leica.

Just another poor app

Constantly needs your camera to pair and re-pair - just a frustrating low budget useless WiFi app

Crashes frequently.

With the latest software upgrade, the app freezes or crashes, fails to connect to my camera.

I want medium size download back

The app overall is good but has several issues:
1. The connection is unstable, sometimes I need to restart both iPhone and camera to get connected. And it seems drains the camera battery pretty quick when connect and download.
2. When you saved more than 200 or maybe 300 (large JPG) photos in the SD card, the initial connection becomes super slow and sometimes cannot connect.
3. Previously the app offers to download a medium size photo but now it’s gone. I can only download either 1MB or 30MB. I really want the 10MB option back so that I can share/download photos easier.

Thank you for taking these issues into consideration and thank you for all the efforts!

Photos not downloading

I have the latest firmware on my cameras, but ever since the last update to my Leica Fotos app, I can’t download anything from my Q3 and Leica D-Lux 8. The cameras both connect to the app, but the downloads fail.

Great app but with privacy concerns

Geotagging photos is really useful. But this app associates your location with personally identifiable data. It also is constantly pulling your location data in the background. Leica could handle this in a more privacy focused way that doesn’t come at the expense of capability.

Useless

The app is useless. It never can maintain a connection, via USB c cable or WiFi/Bluetooth. A good idea, if only it actually functioned.

Impossible to have in the iPhone

It drains the battery also when it is in background doing nothing, it is impossible to use for this reason

Best camera app ever

Super smooth experience

Super app

Super app.

Have a feeling they’ve changed the layout of this last update so the ‘your gallery’ takes up over half the screen. I never use the gallery so a bit pointless for me. I preferred it before where it listed all the cameras.

Leica Fotos

The Leica Fotos app is one of the cleanest, most concise and useable photo apps out there.
Everything makes sense and links with camera really well.
Grabbing images off my camera sat in my bag across the room is fast and easy.
Cannot recommend it enough.

The best

Hands down the best image app for any camera brand - and I have them all. Fast reliable connections and high speed transfers.

So Good

Great functionality, good updates

Best Photo App

Leica cameras are unmatched. So is this this. Super easy to download SOOC on the go.

Love my Leica App

The app is always improving and I love it! I love that this update was a stabilization of the overhaul from the big redesign. I would love to see if we could export jpegs from the raw for the times in a pinch that I wish I would have stopped down a half stop in camera. Doing it from the raw could keep it in app as that seems like the route would prefer based on how the app works. But having that is one of the things that would make the app the almost perfect companion my daily driver (Q3 43). Especially for the in moment photos I like to capture and would allow me to still use the Leica looks.

Also, I do understand that you want to get it right the first time but haha I’m not perfect and sometimes I’d like to change something slightly.

Leica FOTOS Might Be Leica’s Most Underrated Masterpiece.

As much as I love Leica glass, color science, and the way these cameras render light… the real surprise has been the Leica FOTOS app.

Honestly, it’s the fastest, cleanest, most intuitive camera-to-phone workflow I’ve ever used. Period.

DNGs or JPEGs move from camera to phone or tablet remarkably fast and almost effortlessly. No fighting menus. No glitchy transfers. No clunky ecosystem. It just works — seamlessly. Whether I’m posting to social media or jumping into Adobe Lightroom for deeper edits, the process feels modern without killing the soul of photography.

And the companion Leica LUX app is equally impressive. Even though I already shoot with Leica Looks in-camera, it’s great having the flexibility to apply them afterward for quick posts and creative tweaks on the fly.

My only hope? Leica eventually adds a few simple light/color editing tools directly into FOTOS or LUX. The files coming out of these lenses are already so beautiful that most of the time I don’t want to open Lightroom. I just want to fine-tune and share.

That says a lot.

Leica didn’t just build cameras that slow photography down in the best way possible… they somehow made the digital side feel effortless too.

Response from developer

Thank you for your kind feedback. This truly means a lot to the entire Leica FOTOS and Leica LUX team. At Leica FOTOS, we deeply care about seamlessly integrating your camera into your mobile workflow. We’re delighted to hear that you enjoy using your Leica together with the Leica FOTOS app. We’re also very happy to hear that Leica LUX and Leica Looks have become part of your creative process, both in-camera and afterward. The flexibility to move seamlessly from capture to sharing is something we care deeply about. Thank you again for your thoughtful words and for being part of the Leica community.

A Step Backwards

This is a great app that took a step backwards with v6. For those of us that primarily use the app to geotag photos, there is no longer a way to look at the app and confirm a proper Bluetooth connection. This especially true when carrying multiple cameras. Hopefully they will return to having a list of my cameras on the Home page.

Terrible

8 out 10 times you can’t connect it to the camera.

Latest version is a huge downgrade

The latest version displays your photos in low resolution until you download them to the device, unlike the previous version which gave you full res and allowed you to check sharpness and focus etc before downloading. Such a disappointment!

App Update April 30, 2026

Update resolved the issue!(After the latest update, I can’t add Leica filters to my imported Leica D-Lux 8 jpegs.)
