About
You don't keep a journal. You receive one.
Stoicism was never a diary — it survives as mail. Seneca wrote letters to a friend; Marcus Aurelius wrote notes to himself. Lettera returns the practice to its true form: write a short letter to a future you, press and hold to seal it in wax, and it arrives exactly when it's needed.
THE DESK
Arrivals come first — crack the seal on a letter past-you wrote. Then today's letter from the ancients, then the sealed road ahead: small lights waiting at the days they'll land.
WRITE & SEAL
Pick who receives it: tonight-you, tomorrow-you, Sunday-you, next-month-you, one-year-you. One gentle question helps you begin; one honest sentence is plenty. Sealing takes a deliberate press-and-hold with a haptic crescendo — because sealed letters cannot be edited. Honesty with your future self, enforced by wax. Your letters render in real handwriting; the ancients stay typeset.
THE STORM DRAWER
The feature we built first. On a calm day, write to the you inside Anger, Dread, Grief, Overwhelm, Sleepless nights, or Doubt. In a hard moment, tap the storm you're in — your own voice answers the door, with the matched ancient passage beneath. No AI counselor. The wisest person about your 2 a.m. is you, three weeks ago.
THE ANCIENTS
A real correspondence course, not a quote widget: Season One is forty short letters from Seneca, Marcus Aurelius, and Epictetus, rendered from public-domain translations and sourced line by line. It advances on YOUR days — pause a month, and Letter V simply waits. Every letter ends with a question addressed to you; reply with one tap.
POSTMARKS, NEVER STREAKS
Every letter is franked with its date and your inner weather. Nothing counts your days, and nothing breaks when you rest.
PRIVATE BY ARCHITECTURE
• No account, no analytics, no cloud we operate
• Letters live on this device, inside your own device backup
• Export everything as one readable file; erase everything, forever, anytime
• Arrival notifications never show a word of the letter
• On supported devices, Apple Intelligence can offer a first line — it runs entirely on-device, sees only the letter you're writing, and keeps nothing. No cloud AI, ever.
Weekly themes turn with the seasons, prompts rotate daily, Siri and Spotlight open the rooms you need — and everything works offline, forever.
Lettera speaks English, German, French, Spanish and Japanese — including Season One, the forty letters from the ancients, now rendered in all five.
Lettera is a companion for reflection. It does not diagnose, treat, or replace professional support.

What's New in Lettera
1.2
August 1, 2026
Write to yourself on any day you choose — a birthday, an anniversary, the morning after something hard. It stays sealed until then. Also new: • Lettera speaks your language: English, Deutsch, Français, Español, 日本語. • Hand a letter over as a real sealed file, never as raw text. • Write back from any letter — the reply remembers what it answers. • On Apple Watch: daily counsel, the six storms, a guided quiet minute. • Every word on every desk was measured for contrast and made easier to read. Still no account, no analytics, no streaks.
