Great app for the blind!

I am completely blind and use this often. I have guests and children who turn on the lights all the time and I have no clue the lights are even on. In the evenings I turn this app on and walk throughout my home and turn off all the lights left on by my guests and kids. Thank you so much to the developer for making this app. Please continue to update the app so it works on all future iOS versions. Thanks again.

An app that does exactly what it says it does!

It works perfectly. It is nice to have an app do one thing and do it very well.

Simple, but very useful

I needed to find the best area in my room for light source and this app was both simple and effective.

Love it!!!

I too am totally blind. I’m so glad, and so is my spouse, that I can now help make sure all the lights are off at night!! β€˜This is a totally awesome app!!!

App uses camera not light sensors it seems

This app is really lame. I just threw my money. It uses the camera not light sensor and checks frames/images that are captured and measure intensity of pixels. So lame. You can point to your window at night while the room is fully illuminated and it gives 0%. This app also generates an annoying sound also. I thought initially it will use the light sensor of IPhone 7 plus.

Does one thing, but does it well

As a totally blind person, this app is wonderful for telling whether my environment has enough light to take decent pictures with TapTapSee, or to call Be My Eyes. Great thing to have among my utilities.

Good App

I just bot this App today
And I am amaze about what this app can do
Thank you for making this app for blind/visually impaired

Deceptively simple

This app makes a low humming sound when you open it in a dark room, and the sound changes pitch depending on how much light the camera sees. When I first opened it I thought it wouldn't be that useful, but I just didn't realise how many things are indicated by a little light. I've used it to tell if an old cell phone was charging, if the coffee pot was on, if a light was burned out, if the kids had the light on in their room after bedtime, and even if a stick of incense was still burning. It's very sensitive and reliable.

You light up my life

Best feature ever for identifying led lights on small appliances like slow cookers and espresso machines.

No longer works on iPhone 6 Plus

I've used this app for years. It was a very nice and handy tool. However, as soon as I upgraded from my iPhone 4s to my iPhone 6 Plus, the app no longer worked.

Hopefully, the developer can fix this soon. Until then, do not buy this if you have an iPhone 6 Plus..

Great app but it needs updating

App is okay

I am legally blind. This app works okay inside the house. But, I suppose I need to get a little bit more used to it. The continuous buzzing is kind of irritating. But it does respond to light very well.

Perfect for the blind

I am blind and use this when I go visit other people or stay in a hotel. I'm able to make sure I have all the lights off for my guide dog. Even though I cannot see the light my dog still has problems sleeping with it on. I recently moved into a new house and have tons and tons of light switches in every room. This app helps me figure out which switch is for which light.

DDobler

This is a great app, because I have no light perception, this app is invaluable to me. People come to my home leave a light on I don't know if it's on or off so I use this app to check that. Great work great app much appreciated.

Very nice!

No fuss; no frills. This little beauty does quickly and reliably what it says it does. The upgrade makes it possible to detect a blinking as opposed to a steady light source in some cases. I also appreciate the ability to mute the sound without closing the app. I use this app all the time.

Another simple yet fantastic app from this developer

As a parent who is blind with sighted children, this app comes in extremely useful to stop the house being lit up like a christmas tree at night time when they go to bed. As it says in the description of the app, just run the app and move your camera around to detect any light source.

Very Useful and Fun

Now I feel more confident using visual apps as a totally blind person.

Gives the blind even more independence

Very easy to use! It's actually fun! Now, for your next trick, what about a color detector that's easy to use? Thank you.

Awesome

I wanted an app like this. It feels like i regained the light perception that I lost a long time ago. Adding vibrating feature might help deaf blind people also.

Simple, effective, uncomplicated does it

As Chuck Berry has been reported to have said:

"Keep it simple ...."

For a totally blind person, this app allows detection of light at various levels. If a light has been left on or not turned on, the detector indicates this by its tone: low for low or no light and high for bright light, with gradations according to the light source. The app lets the user know if a bulb has been burnt out or whether someone in the house has, or has not, forgotten to open or close blinds or curtains.

Works every time without fail on my IPhone 4.
If you want to play with it, you can engage the app, scan the phone across a solid object, such as a standing person and the tones will warble and oscillate. Just tell your subject that they have confirmation that they have not been transformed into an alien. (smile)
