Useless

Horrendous app to use. Freezes and locks out. Not sure why but it’s appalling.

Downhill

Used to be half decent but now you’re forced to pay for old news and boring stories by non local journalists. The Premium option overseen by an out of town media company is the final nail in the coffin for the once magnificent Liverpool Echo. I’ll be deleting the app.

Not as good as it used to be

Well well so our own Liverpool echo has moved to Manchester and has outgrown the city that made it
What happened to our regular on line echo headlines money now seems to be the go word for our online read well goodbye echo

£4.99 per month 😂

Absolutely disgusting that this lot have turned a local paper into a high charging subscription model. It’s been free since inception. Uninstalled 👋

Avoid now, sad to say

When the News was free, you could put up with all the adverts, data acquisition via cookies, racist comments and frankly poor writing (spelling mistakes and weak journalism). Now they insist on charging £5 per month, it’s really not worth it. You get 10 articles ‘free’ per week but really it’s a waste of time. If you want to pay for news, this is not the place.

Liverpool

The paper only has Rooneys in it.

Echo needs to leg it!

Not even a Liverpool newspaper, these proper doggy journalists spend about 10 minutes in Liverpool, take their picture in sevy park, repost an article from abar 15 years ago, get back in their Fiat 500’s that’s powered by fairy dust and go back to living in Chester. 90% of the articles are all clickbait, other 10% are about somewhere else in the UK. Full of those blatent fake adverts that are designed to track and steal identities if they are clicked on, considering alot of the Echo’s readers are in the older age bracket will not even recognise this and will probably end up getting their pension sent to Nigeria. Absolute stinker of an app this, oh and now those dog poo articles are locked behind a paywall subscription after you read 1-2 of them, wouldn’t be surprised if the app is logging people’s details and selling them on. Dont waste you phone space on this, rather read your news on google instead and will probably still be more local than these lizards. Weapons!

Short story long

.. I’ve considered paying for premium .. mostly for the football.. however every story starts with repeated history.. for instance.. January window .. Liverpool FC sign a player .. before we get to the story .. it’s .. Trent left .. Diego Died .. LFC spent £££ .. Sala this . ..Isak that
Slot said .. the fans think .. last year .. and then .. the story .. it’s all headlines .. no news

Too many ads now echo now wants money to read articles

Lately this app has had a HUGE increase in the number of ads popping up and filling the screen. A lot of them are difficult to close. This makes it almost impossible to read an article. Many times I’ve had to abandon my attempts and close the app.
Today I find they want me to pay a subscription to read more than 10 articles. That’s not happening. I’m not going to pay to read news stories I can read free elsewhere. I have deleted my account at the Liverpool Echo and I will be removing the app from my phone. Note to developers - money grabs are a sure way to lose people. Corporate greed may work for a while but eventually will be the cause of your downfall.

Subscription wtf

So having read my 10 articles for the week you want me to pay £5/ month - not thanks deleted from phone and I’ll get my football news elsewhere for free

Must really be struggling but it’s only going to get worse

The app has already got adverts and now they want to give just 10 free articles to read a week! Or pay a monthly subscription to ready some awful articles which are not even local terrible decision. Most lovely to delete anyway

Poor

Now need to pay, I was happy seeing ads, but now it’s forced ads and pay. I don’t pay for itv as I see ads, so either sort this mess out or loose me. I ain’t paying for Manchester based news. Not so liverpool echo, shame on you.

Not paying £4.99 a month

This will back fire on you. No one will pay this. People will delete the app. Whatever consultant told you this was a good idea didn’t know their market place.

Fees

I’m not paying £4.99 a month for a news app that gets so much wrong time to delete

Update

This new update is awful. Takes ages going back to the stories. The notification icon does not go away unless you want notifications awful

Comments.

Poor experience on iphone when it comes to adding a comment. After 2 or 3 lines you are unable to see what you are typing. What makes it even worse is that developers seem totally unaware. Poor.

J

Worst app ever this app causes any device to overheat as it is constantly trying to load an advert or pull you away from the app to a website waste of time installing unless you want to replace your battery (I’d give zero stars but it won’t allow me)

How to waste £19.99

Paying £19.99 per year for no advertising and news updates, keep getting pop up adds and only getting news on the free echo site.

App is fine - content is terrible

I only use the app for LFC News - and it is truly a terrible app for that.
News stories constantly repeated (or at least versions of it).
Stories presented by weird, nonsensical headlines which only serve to irritate the reader.
Truly infuriating.
