Thanks

Thank you for creating this app.

Really clean

This app is really clean and beautiful and does what it intends with no fluff. Truly a fantastic example of modern native app development.

Work of art in progress

What I love …
- Colorful pleasing UI with multiple themes to choose from.
- Love that events can belong to multiple categories.
- Generous amount of event icons to choose from.
- Ability to log notes (optional).
- Multiple notification times and types. Can add based on duration past (including hours) and specific days and times during the week.
- Custom swipe options.
- Search field filter. You’d be surprised how many tracking apps overlook this needed feature (especially when you have dozens of trackers).
- Apple Watch app with complications and widgets!

Had a few suggestions …
- Event descriptions for adding a bit of motivation.
- Track amounts. I.e. Push ups. glasses of water, etc.
- Apple Health integration. Daily step count, sunlight time, etc.
- Image attachments to activity log (like text notes).
- URL field (that works with callback URLs as well) like Awesome Habits and Grit. Allows linking to a web page or a list of subtasks/steps in another app (via callback link).
- Watch complication that goes directly to a list of recent events, in addition to selecting one particular event.
- Apple Watch app selective sync. Choose which categories you want to appear on the watch app. Don’t need all of them on the watch. Could greatly speed up sync time when you have dozens of Events/Habits. And/or perhaps let us filter on categories in the watch app like on the iPhone.
- A few more alternative icons that don’t use the t-Rex logo, for those who want a more traditional looking app icon.
- Let it work in offline (airplane mode). Even though I purchased lifetime it reverts to free version and tells me I have limits when in airplane mode.
Thanks for listening. Keep up the good work.

Notifications timing

The notifications come on the wrong day. For example I have a vacuum reminder every 4 days, but I will get a notification on day 2.

Response from developer

Sorry you are having trouble with the notifications! That doesn’t sound right and I want to figure out what’s going on, can you reach me at oscar@longago.app ? Notifications should always be delivered exactly the set time after the last completion. I want to make this right.

Device sync doesn't work

Bought the full version mainly for device syncing multiple tasks

Response from developer

I’m sorry you are having issues with sync. First of all, feel free to reach me out directly, I want to get you in a good state more than anything: oscar@longago.app iCloud can be very temperamental, I usually suggest: - Fully closing and restarting the app - Launch it while connected to power - If nothing works a full reboot can help Usually the first sync is the most problematic one, afterwards it has been working properly. I’m still investigating more about these issues and what can be done to make it less finicky. Don’t hesitate to reach me out!

Very clean beautiful app

This is a really nice, clean app. Very well done, kudos to the indie developer for the excessive level of polish and thoughtfulness in the interface design. It fulfills its purpose with no cruft. I love this sort of app.

This App is a must!

Wow I’m really enjoying using this app, it helps me realise how much I tend to put things off, but now it’s easier to take action!

Loving the interface, and I honestly think everyone needs something like this in their pocket. Don’t forget to mark the last time you had a cup of tea 😉 🇬🇧

Functional and non obtrusive habit tracker

A delightful native experience built with love. Apps like this are what makes the App Store special.

It’s easy to forget when was the last time we did something and adding reminders to the calendar doesn’t solve for it in my case as I’m likely to lose track of them. Long Ago solves this effectively and provides a succinct way to remember things I deemed important but are likely to forget. Give it a shot!

Keep up the good work 💪

Download Chronicling instead?

I love using indie apps. The developers often have interesting new ideas, care deeply about their products and are wonderful to engage with.

Long Ago, however, is not a work of love as the developer bio suggests. It seems a direct copy of an indie app launched last year - Chronicling. The features and layout are nearly identical. The dev even follows Chronicling’s dev on mastodon (where product updates and previews are shared).

I have no time for indie developers who copy another’s ideas and pass them off as original creativity.
