Developer added a Forced IAP added without any mention of such in the release notes of the updates.
(A possibility that plenty of other devs do when they do such things and most add it in the release notes when adding new ways an app functions.)
This is a really poor way to run a business / app. Obfuscating what updates your doing to the app, then not honoring previous users of the app. I get we all gotta make money for our time but there’s classy ways of going about it, and then there’s the other way.
Dev went the other way.
Response from developer
Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback. I understand why this change was disappointing, especially for users who had been using those features before the subscription was introduced. Since this review was posted, I’ve added a free trial that provides full access to all premium features before any purchase decision is required. I also appreciate your comments about how the change was communicated. Looking back, I could have done a better job of setting expectations and explaining the reasons behind it. Thanks again for trying the app and for sharing your perspective.
