Great inspiration catcher
I use this to grab great snippets from the various generative sequencers I use. It allows me to take building blocks and turn them into full tracks or easily manageable patterns for live play.
Simple but effective
If you need an easy to use looper then this may be for you. Like all of Cems apps it is functional, easy to use and great value
Very useful Tool
Really like to do MIDI loops with it!
No recording/looping of MIDI CC
Neat performance looper that’s intuitive and fun. Works great in standalone or as an AUv3 with AUM. However it does not record MIDI CC which I think is a huge fault. If this gets added in the future, it’ll be a five star app in my opinion.
Love this app! Desperately needs “Remove bar” option!
Great little app for making midi loops! Been using it for a couple weeks now and my only major issue is that we DESPERATELY need a button to remove bars from the loop. Thank you so much for making this!
Lovely, Limited, Little App
A really great simplified take on Atom 2. The signal chain was easy to set up in AUM, but the choice of pattern changes via CC only was really disappointing. It requires one of N unreliable midi-converter apps to switch patterns.
Other reviewers piped in with some more ideas to make this a fully usable part of a professional toolset, and it’s almost there.

Great concept, a little buggy
I really like this AUv3. It's a midi looper that caters to live performers, at least that's how I use it. There are just some minor issues, e.g. there's a button to add bars but none to remove them, sometimes the new recording doesn't overwrite all notes (certain pitches get "stuck" and the only way to fix it is to clear the clip). I also would love more and better midi implementation, e.g. add/remove bars, focus bar as toggle (the current rotary parameter doesn't work at all for me, same as pattern select) etc. Overall a brilliant concept though, and no, Atom 2 does not do what this does!

No edit, useless
This app only records midi, you can’t edit or dudge a note. It’s pretty useless.
Reply: I think the term "MIDI looping" is misleading. I have never seen an app that has midi recording with no ability to edit. It's 5$, I won't lose any sleep. I am just trying to help anyone else who might be misunderstanding. My review is NOT USELESS! :)

Response from developer
It’s pretty clear in the description what it does and does not. So, this review is pretty useless.
Great developer, app still maturing
Updated Review (mid-April 2021)
Very glad the new update addresses the app’s blocking of midi pitch and other controllers which I found particularly frustrating. However, until LoopBud offer minimal support of these necessary events in the loop itself, I can’t give more than 2.5 stars. Editing is a low priority, as long as users can record and overwrite pitch bend and mod as part of the loop. The developer deserves five stars for communication and rapid fixes!! I’ll happily upgrade my review and rating when the app is ready for primetime....
PS. A secondary feature request is a recording mode with undetermined loop length, allowing the user to jam and then find the loop. This would make the app much more usable in workflows such as mine...
Old Review (early April 2021)
I wanted to love LoopBud. The UI isn’t great but the app seemed to offer a great way to compose and export MIDI patterns. But sadly the app not only doesn’t support pitch bend or mod wheel events but it blocks them when it’s used as a MIDI filter (for example in Audiobus 3). I found this out the hard way, when trying to work with a riff that used pitch bend.
The app developer replied to my email inquiry quickly and confirmed my findings. He indicated the feature is planned, but not in the immediate future. I am disappointed this fairly huge weakness wasn’t referenced in the app description, leading to terrible user experience. Players of midi controllers expect pitch bend and mod wheel to be supported, and even if these essential MIDI events cannot be recorded and looped, they certainly should not be blocked for playing over.

Amazing tool!
Please consider adding an OMNI recording option so that we can record MPE through this little jewel! That would be tremendously appreciated! It is as far as I can tell the only thing This little gem is missing.
Great app but bugs for now
In settings you selectYou select the music app you want to connect to .however the app reverts back as soon as you come out of settings so you’re unable to connect
Loop to your heart’s content
Yes there are other midi recorders on the IOS platform, and yes this is just a looper, but what it does it does very well; and this is due impart to its simplicity. Very quick to grasp and so easy to great some great grooves. Can be powered by either keyboard or midi sequencer. I heartly recomend.
Edit?
Will there be an option to edit midi notes in future?
Response from developer
Hello, it’s not an editor and never will be. It’s the easiest MIDI recorder and looper in the world! It has a MIDI export function in its settings menu that you can use for editing your recordings in your favorite piano roll editor (like Cubase or Garageband) I hope that would be helpful and it would be really nice if you could update your rating, thanks!
