The camera, end to end. Scanning a VIN now works when you tilt the phone. Leaning over a windscreen tilts it without you thinking about it, and that alone used to be enough to stop a scan reading — the camera handed over a sideways picture while the app measured the scan box as though the phone were upright. Photographed documents are far sharper. A bill of sale or auction receipt now arrives at around three times the detail, which on a printed page is the difference between six-point small print being readable and being a smudge. The document camera also has a torch now, so you can see the page is lit and in focus before you take the shot. A found VIN stays on screen long enough to read before the app fills it in for you. Taking a photo opens the camera straight away instead of asking where the picture should come from every single time. Your photo library is still one tap away, beside the shutter. Photos of a car taken sideways are saved sideways, the picture no longer looks stretched when you turn the phone, and you can tap to focus on a dent or an odometer. Fixed: locking the phone, or it going in your pocket for a moment, could drop you back at the start screen and lose what you had typed. It leaves you where you were.
