What's New in Luminos Pro

14.1

August 29, 2026

New Features * Updated Star & Exoplanet Data: All star and exoplanet databases have been refreshed, with new Luyten Half-Second (LHS) cross references and official names for nine of Saturn's moons. * New Ways to Explore: Added star categories for the Fastest and Largest stars, plus a new Super-puff exoplanet category. * Truer Star Colors: Star colors and temperatures are noticeably more accurate, especially for carbon stars, Wolf-Rayet stars, and the hottest blue stars. * Expanded Tonight's events: New events cover Sun extremes, Saturn's rings, satellite launch trains, the Milky Way core, lunar occultations, Earth's apsides, and auroras. * Flexible Sorting: Sort stars by motion when proper motion data is installed, and sort your custom lists by the date you added each object. Stability & Performance Improvements * Smoother Navigation: Fixed crashes and resolved temporary freezing issues while browsing databases such as satellites, asteroids, and landscapes. * Faster Tonight Panel: The Tonight panel updates more quickly Visual & Rendering Refinements * 3D Models & Textures: Spacecraft and other 3D models are rendering correctly again, including the proper gold foil coloring on ships like Pioneer 10. * Orbits & Celestial Mechanics: Corrected the orbital paths for Uranus' moons, and exoplanets and their orbits are now oriented correctly around their host stars. * Cleaner Sky View: Planets no longer appear overly bright after a flight through the solar system, a stray triangle no longer protrudes from the Sun, and all grids now fade out properly at high speeds. * Label Visibility: Moon names are no longer obstructed by planetary rings, grid labels are drawn consistently, and the dots marking specific surface features are fully visible again. * Exoplanet Data: Corrected a display bug so that molecule names and families on exoplanet pages are shown accurately, and exoplanets are categorized more precisely. Interface & Interaction Fixes * Terrain Selection: You can once again select the Moon through translucent terrain. * Smarter Tapping: Tapping overlapping stars now reliably selects the brighter one, and tapping near Jupiter or Saturn no longer grabs their moons when those moons aren't visible. * Clean UI Layouts: Removed a duplicate "Done" button that was appearing at the top of deep space catalog lists (like the Messier catalog). * Consistent Lists: Multi-column lists will now maintain their layout and no longer mistakenly collapse into a single column when sorted. * Accurate Naming & Highlighting: Comet names are abbreviated correctly, and Carina, Puppis, Vela, and Pyxis now highlight as expected. * Spacecraft Positioning: Spacecraft with no data available for the selected date no longer appear at the center of the Sun.

The best astronomy app

Dear developers, I’ve tried lots of astronomy apps, but Luminos Pro is by far the best. That’s why I decided to buy the lifetime pass. Thank you very much for all your hard work, and I look forward to seeing what you develop next.

Best Planetarium App Ever

I've been using this app for years and I just love it. It has everything you can imagine and much more and it is even constantly growing. I've tried several other apps on iPad and PC, but this one is truly the very best. Everything works greatly and very user friendly. And if a problem ever arises out of the millions of possibilities: a quick email to John and the problem will be solved. Thank you for this wonderful app, your excellent service and your knowledge.

No longer seems to be supported.

Revised back to five stars. My thanks to dev for prompt, clear response. Leaving for prompt customer service kudos.

Old:Six months no fixes. Lifetime memberships always feel like a trap. Satellite updates don’t work like they used to.

Response from developer

Thank you for your feedback. I understand your frustration about the recent gap in updates. I've been working on significant improvements behind the scenes, and I'm committed to supporting Luminos Pro long-term. The satellite issue is because some categories of Celestrak data feeds are now obsolete and no longer return data. Turn them off for now in Luminos Pro (swipe left to delete one), and in the next update in a couple of weeks they will be gone, plus there are new Celestrak categories that I've added support for. Best regards, John Stephen Author of Luminos Pro

More and more features get locked, as the app is devolving over time

How is it even possible, that I paid 30€ for this app and it STILL has massive amounts of locked content? Like how much money do you want me to spend for functionality that other FREE Apps also provide.

Nearly all of the lists of objects, more detailed information and means of setting up a camera operation (and much more) are LOCKED behind a monthly subscription, what did I even pay for in the first place?

It is a good app all in all, but over time more and more features get limited, I genuinely do not see any real arguments for this app anymore, when many free apps include the same features. It used to be much better, all these relevant features got locked in retrospect, so the app is literally devolving. It has gotten to the point where it is annoying to use, as the app itself is not enough anymore and one needs external information.

It‘s honestly quite sad, I originally bought it, because it truely was better than its competitors. Nowadays, just get another alternative that does not decrease in quality.

Response from developer

Hi there, thank you for your review. I completely understand your frustration, but it looks like there has been a mix-up with the apps! Luminos and Luminos Pro are actually two completely separate apps. The €30 you paid was for the original Luminos, which is a one-time purchase with no subscription. It sounds like you might have accidentally downloaded my other app, Luminos Pro, which uses a subscription model for its advanced features. I assure you I never retroactively lock features. If you delete this app and reinstall the original Luminos from your App Store purchase history, you will find that all the features you originally paid for are still there and fully accessible, no subscription required. Please feel free to email me at support@wobbleworks.com if you need help finding your original purchase!
