About
Mahjong Director runs an American mahjong (NMJL) tournament or league from one phone, tablet or laptop — roster, seating, table rotation, scoring, standings and every printable a director needs on the day. It works with no internet connection.
It is built for the person running the room, not for playing online.
SEATING AND ROTATION
• MJMP fixed rotation, worked out for you: A moves up one table, B down one, C up two, D down two
• Variety rotation for club nights: a plan across all rounds that keeps repeat opponents to a minimum
• Any number of players. When the count is not a multiple of four, choose 3-handed tables or rotating sit-outs
• Manual seat swaps, late arrivals, withdrawals and re-entries without breaking the standings
SCORING THE NMJL WAY
• Simple totals per table, or detailed hand-by-hand entry with every MJMP bonus and penalty: self-pick, jokerless, wall games, and the thrower penalties by exposure
• A blank score is a blank, never a zero, so the standings only ever show what was entered
• Most-mah-jonggs and head-to-head tiebreaks, or shared places
• Missed rounds credited as zero or as the round average — your choice
LIVE STANDINGS AND PRINTABLES
• Standings update the moment a score goes in
• A full-screen wall board for the TV, with a round timer and 10/5/1-minute warnings
• Print the seating chart, score cards, player slips, table tents and the final standings
• Printable certificates for the winners
• Post a message to the room ("Lunch is served") on the wall board
• Export to CSV or back the whole event up to a file
LEAGUE NIGHTS
• A season is a series of sessions, each seated and scored like a tournament
• Season standings across every session, with drop-lowest if your league uses it
• Attendance-aware: a night a player missed counts as missed, not as zero
DIRECTOR PLUS — optional subscription
A link and QR code your players open on their own phones, updating by itself as you enter scores, with the round clock and your messages; players check themselves in and each table can send its scores for you to approve; a club ladder ranking your players across every event you run; and cloud backup of the event you are running, restorable on any computer. $2.99 a month or $24.99 a year, renewing until you cancel. Everything above stays yours at no charge — nothing you can do today ever moves behind the subscription.
WHO IT IS FOR
Tournament directors, league organisers, club hosts and anyone asked to "run the scoring" at a charity mahjong day. Six players on a Tuesday or eighty at a fundraiser: add the roster, seat the round, enter the scores.
No account is needed to run an event. The app stores your tournament on your device and sends nothing anywhere unless you choose to share a live link or save a cloud backup.
