Frederator Studios

ActivityPub is a superior protocol to AT bc I said so. And because Bridgy Fed and SkyBridge said so too! Also the fediverse sounds like the production network that brought us Bee and PuppyCat, Adventure Time, Fairly OddParents, ChalkZone, My Life as A Teenage Robot, Random Cartoons, and Bravest Warios! This message was paid for by WaLuigi in mario tennis. Great app too!

The best Mastodon app I’ve seen so far

The UI is nice and auto-fetch of replies and metadata from other instances is a killer feature. it also properly renders markdown!

Very clean

This is my favorite Mastodon client by far! Clean, modern design with a dark mode. The only thing I don't like is how threads are handled--hoping they can add indentation support soon!

Okay

This is my favorite fediverse app on iOS. The devs don’t seem to check (or ignore) support requests within the app. It is nicely designed, but it has issues and it seems difficult to communicate those issues to their developer(s).

“we enabled telemetry”

… but the Notion link to “why did we enable telemetry” asks me to login, which i won’t do.

Mammoth is hit/miss. Back in its beta times, when expectations were low, the app felt quite compelling. Now a little less so, and small inconveniences like having to tap N times on a video to pause or stop, get old rather quickly. The posts-shortening algorithm feels strange (adding multiple trimmed paras with ellipses). Quitting the app also sometimes loses the “last read” marker. And so on.

Good, overall.

Needs some UI tweaks but good overall

Solid app. Love the ability to save your place in the timeline. This app desperately needs a “go to newest” or “go to top” button

Slick Mastodon Client with One Fatal Flaw

Mastodon hasn't become an addiction to replace the formerly fun bird network that's just for toxic people and fascists now. That's fine. But it means I sometimes don't open Mammoth for days. When that happens, getting to the most recent stories, skipping the posts I missed over the past few days, is an exercise of scrolling up, refreshing the feed, and repeating. Endlessly. Why on earth would this not just skip to the most recent posts?

Nice update… unintuitive notification section

“All activity” shows everything like it should, but there’s no where to approve follower requests. Just tells you that you have follower requests and won’t let you approve or deny them in any fashion. The notification only takes you to that user’s profile.

Furthermore, swiping over to the “follows” section of notifications only shows you who has been approved - totally leaves out follower requests which should also be there to approve/deny.

Great

It’s a fast Mastodon client, and does a great job and filling out the experience if you’re on a smaller instance. Highly recommended

Great app.

You can tell the devs really put lot of love into it. My favorite out many great ones.

The best App to use Mastodon With

The curated selections and simple yet advanced UI make this app stellar. It’s my daily driver now

It’s ok.

I’m not a fan of the navigation at the bottom. I wish they just went with standard iOS design elements. I’m also not a fan of the change to a heart instead of the star for likes. Other than that the algorithms for smart lists is pretty neat. I’ll keep it installed to see how it improves over time but I still greatly prefer Ice Cubes for Mastodon.

This is where we go after Twitter

Mammoth is the best social web app for iOS. Skip Threads and Bluesky. This is the one you want.

Great update

Have been using Mammoth 2.0 for a few days now and it’s battling Ivory on my main homescreen! LOL
It’s such a nice revision of the app. Being able to scroll left to right and vice-versa on one screen to view all the lists I am following is my favorite part of the app. Very intuitive. I also really like the sounds it makes when you navigate and do certain things in the app. Usually I have that turned off but I’ve kept it on! They admittedly have some work to do in scrolling issues and other stuff but it’s the first iteration. They are very active and plan to make regular updates so I can’t complain about that at all. I decided to support them and paid the $20 yearly. I have no prob paying to help make the apps that are important to me continue to be successful and out out updates. So I’m looking forward to see what the Mammoth team has in-store next.

A simple way to pull away from the bird site

If you tried Mastodon and found it too confusing, Mammoth takes away much of that confusion. It’s simple, it’s well designed, and most importantly, it’s a way to wrestle control over your social away from ego-maniacal billionaires. Definitely worth trying.

Just one nag

App works wonderfully. I was looking for an alternative to Ivory and this fits the bill. My only complaint is that scrolling the timeline, even at a reasonable speedy is janky and stutters a lot. Hopefully this will be fixed in a future update.

Response from developer

Hey, thank you for your feedback! We’ve been working on getting rid of some bugs and fixing issues surrounding the overall smoothness of the timeline, and in the latest version, you should see some solid improvements on that end. Thank you for using Mammoth!

My favorite Mastodon client!

Version one was great, had a lot of “extras”, but version 2 is just different. UX/UI is super clean and polished. Logging in and checking For You has become my main feed now. Love it!

Getting better, but not without issues

Things have gotten a lot better lately with new features and a lot more polish, but some problems persist. Namely image quality when viewed within the app is much, much worse than the image quality of the original photos/videos hosted on their respective fediverse servers. It’s as if they’ve failed to correctly load and is especially noticeable/unusable on iPad.

Response from developer

Want to let you know that we launched Mammoth 2 yesterday. Almost all new code (except for Composer). In addition to enhanced UI and simple onboarding, we’ve added instant suggestions and curated “smart lists” to help people easily discover interesting conversations. The “For You” feed feels even more personalized! Hope you’ll check it out and that it lives up to the promise you saw in April.

Mastodon for Threads users

Mastodon w a For You feed and made beautiful and user friendly

Mammoth 2 is here!

Well done, developers! Love the feed that shows each post and boost separately rather than grouped together. Makes it easier to view! And love that it’s easy to see someone’s individual posts rather than all their re-boosts.

And thank you for the featured interest feed! Love how I can find new people to follow with shared interests!
