better than fow and mysteryhike and ive used both extensively and found this to use the least battery and work the most consistently.
very good until glitch
Patch notes show that they fixed the processing glitch or whatever, but for me it's not fixed. Contemplating whether or not i should delete and get a better app. I had way too much data to want to delete this, but it's completely unusable. Please fix the glitch for real this time

Mega App, auf die wir uns sehr gefreut haben. Die App hat etwas gekostet und jetzt funktioniert sie nicht mehr richtig. Leider hängt sie bei mir extrem. Und lässt sich nicht richtig öffnen.
Promising, lacks functionality
I really wanted to like this app, unfortunately it takes too long when you open the app to process your travels. If you leave the app closed for longer than a day, you’ll be waiting minutes to hours for it to process, and only while you leave the app open on screen. You cannot do anything else while it processes or it will never process.

Lacking essentials
The app is OK if you use it by itself, but I really miss an essential feature to import the json files from Google location history. I tried to convert it to GPX. It won’t accept the json file. The GPX file also causes problems and doesn’t really properly get imported so this is really a downturn

Good news: the issue you ran into with JSON/GPX imports was caused by a bug on my end, and it’s now fixed in the latest App Store update. 🎉 Imports should work properly going forward, whether you’re using the original JSON file or a converted GPX file. If you still see any problems after updating, feel free to reach out

Best Gamify Your Life Map App
This is the best map app for sure, other ones are bulky and lack features. Mapcred is clean and has great game center integration. The only problem I have is importing workouts takes forever. I am currently doing it 5 workouts at a time, out of 275 workouts, because it doesn’t crash that way.
Maybe the best FOW like game
Easy to view UI, no complicated options, integrated with Apple Maps and Game Center, I love it! Even more than the original FOW because it enables workouts imports!
App doesn’t record maps at times
I’ve used FOW for over a decade now and picked up MapCred when I read the devs post on Reddit an year ago I think. I like this app but at times it refuses to record my track even while being open. This has happened to me 3 times now and twice with my wife. Quite disappointing as the whole point is to get the time of stay at one location. But nope, despite being open, no data recorded. No idea what’s going on but definitely not a reliable app.

Sorry to hear things aren’t working right. I’d like to help. If the app is processing a backlog of locations (you’ll see a white progress bar under your scores) then the map won’t reflect new travels until the backlog is cleared. It’s still recording but busy updating the map. Other possibilities: Verify you have GPS signal by checking the Maps app. Verify location tracking in MapCred isn’t disabled (button in lower right above share button). This app is amazing and always accurate.
The only negative I would say is the battery usage is about %1 per hour. But that is the cost to have an up to date heat map which is incredibly reliable and accurate.

Best Map app !!
This is hands down the best map app I’ve used. It tracks your progress great and is much cheaper than the main competitor. It also allows you to zoom in and out, which the competitor does not allow.

Is there a way to reduce battery usage somehow?
Or provide the ability to toggle recording using a custom shortcut (similar to fogofworld.app), although that would slightly distort the heat map

You can disable recording temporarily within the app. Just tap the legend, then tap “Disable recording”.

The best map app :)
I love that it doesn’t just show you where you’ve been, but how often (the heat map feature), making it more fun to go places repeatedly.
App seems to be more stable and modern than any of the others I’ve tried. Speaking of which, I have tried a couple of the others (Strut and Fog of World) and hated that Strut locked me in so I couldn’t export my data, and Fog of World didn’t have leaderboards or any social features and was super expensive. MapCred addresses the shortcomings of both of those (super smart to use GameCenter to share with your friends!), and it is just great overall!

Fun location app
I really enjoyed seeing the heat maps of where I’ve been. And it’s fun to compete to be the king of a particular location (although I’m only the king of my living room for the time being)
