Real katakana words suggestion please!
I love this app. It has helped me memorize my hiragana alphabet and I'm still working towards the katakana.
I just have one suggestion to the developers - that is to use the actual katakana vocabulary in the katakana practice drills. Because it gets very confusing for new learners to distinguish between the use of katakana for animals plus foreign words and the original Japanese words that are supposed to be written in hiragana.
Otherwise, thank you for developing this app.
I've been using another one to help me with this confusion, so it would be highly appreciated if you could use actual katakana words.
Another suggestion would be to be able to listen again on demand to the greetings done by the greeting character. I'm often curious to be able to reread, click on it, and practice what it said.

This app is amazing it has help me learn hiragana fast and in a fun and easy way the key is practicing every day for at least 10 minutes will help a lot I recommend it if you want to learn and read Japanese

Great app for intro to Japanese
Helpful App
Maru is an excellent app for learning Hiragana and vocabulary. The drills an are fi and each drill goes by quickly so itβs easy to fit it in. Also the stroke order feature is very helpful I definitely recommend the app to new Japanese language learners.
A simple app perfect for learning base-level Japanese.
The appβs UI is visually attractive, the exercises are thorough, and the progression system is well balanced. I especially like that it makes absolutely sure you understand what you have already covered before moving you to the next stage. A future update could include an option to practise drawing the symbols, although that can easily be done by hand outside the app. More importantly, a third learning path covering 100 basic kanji and introductory grammar notes would be useful once the foundational symbols have been learned.

Actually trying to help
Awesome app. Only shows you ads when you get 5 incorrect. Helps you to stay in the flow of learning. Unlike duolingo, you can practice as much as you want for free. Best language app I have used to date.

I love maru! This app has been so great! and makes it easier to learn kana with repetitive quizzes and introductions to vocabulary words! So far I am only partially into the hiragana section but am already starting to recognize some characters and even being able to sound out words Iβm reading outside of the app. Definitely try it out !

Great app for mastering kana!
It makes it simple with customization features depending on how you prefer to study (just try all the buttons) I love the mascot itβs so cute! And you only get ads if you make a mistake or finish a drill early, sounds like a steal to me!

I love it! It is free and it teaches me many Japanese words, itβs free, and adds are not constant, which I absolutely adore. Not many Japanese learning apps aren't completely free (like Duolingo) for good, quality learning that will help you understand a native Japanese speaker. (I am in middle school so if it does not make sense I apologize)π

This is honestly the best app Iβve used for memorizing Hiragana! Itβs so helpful getting to drill and you even get to select which ones you want to drill for more targeted learning.
