Recent update bugs

(iPad Air M2, 26.2) As of the recent update, plots do not scale to fit the window when opened unless the window is transformed while the plot is open. Since the plot cannot be saved if the window is transformed while it’s open, saving a plot as an image now requires generating the plot, opening the plot, resizing the window to properly scale the plot, closing the plot, reopening the plot, then using the save button.

Straight trash

Can’t split screen and reloads every 5 secs

Taking time out of my day to review this terrible app

Now you know

UI is still buggy on ipad

Some improvements. But usability is still an issue on ipad. On iPadOS18, there is helpful strip of symbols at the bottom (left, right, up, down, (), [], {}, =, etc …) that are in the way of input when input reached the bottom of the window. We can’t even see what we typed.

Useless for my needs

Matlab is an incredibly power suite of programs, I have been using it professionally for over 30 year. One of its strength is it ability to present complex data in ways non-experts can understand, often by using animated and interactive figures. Unfortunately, the mobile version has stripped even the most basic animation capabilities from figures. No drawnow, no realtime redeeming, no movie…. You get last frame. Not sure what they are shooting for here. It is not due to hardware limitations , tablets and cell phones have plenty of graphis power, there is no license option to enable animations… it is really a shame. I cannot overstate my disappointment.

FAQ

What can I do with MATLAB Mobile?

MATLAB Mobile allows you to connect to MATLAB from your iPhone or iPad. You can evaluate MATLAB commands, create and edit files, view results, acquire data from your device's sensors, and visualize data using 2D and 3D plots. It also provides cloud storage and synchronization with MATLAB Drive.

How do I connect to MATLAB?

You connect to MATLAB using your MathWorks Account. This account allows you to link your MATLAB license, increasing your cloud storage quota and unlocking access to other add-on products if your license is current on MathWorks Software Maintenance Service.

Is MATLAB Mobile free to use?

The app itself is free to download and use for basic functionality. However, advanced features and increased cloud storage are unlocked by linking a current MathWorks license. The app also displays ads.

What are the limitations of MATLAB Mobile?

MATLAB Mobile does not support using MATLAB Apps like Curve Fitting, creating apps with App Designer, interacting with 3D figures, or opening/creating models in the Simulink graphical environment. Continued use of GPS in the background can also decrease battery life.

What is MATLAB used for?

MATLAB is a leading technical computing software used for algorithm development, data visualization, data analysis, and numeric computation. It is applied in fields such as signal and image processing, communications, control design, financial modeling, and computational biology.
