A great GA alternative
I’ve used a handful of analytics tools over the years and have generally avoided GA due to privacy concerns of my end users. However, I recently found Matomo and for the first time feel like we’ve got a solid solution that’s not sacrificing features compared to GA whole still having fantastic privacy preserving tools.
The app itself honestly lacks a bit in polish and features, but it’s *pretty good* for checking on the go. It also makes some very strange decisions like asking if you want to send your login in clear text 😂 I really have to recommend the web interface over the app but it does the job for a Quick Look at yesterday’s stats of the visit log (like the web portal though, you need to keep in mind that it shows data from YESTERDAY by default for statistical reasons but this may not be obvious to a first time user.

GA Alternative
I don’t like handing Google all my clients’ data; with Matomo I run the software on my servers and choose what I need to see and what I don’t. A great bit of software and the mobile app makes it easy to keep an eye on your analytics.
Matomo is Fantastic!
I had been using Google Analytics for years across multiple of my own personal sites and several client sites. With my hatred of Google only continuing to grow, I started by switching a couple of my personal sites over to Matomo and finally ripped the last of all Google products out of all my personal sites at the end of 2023.
I’m now working with my clients to make the migration to Matomo from Google Analytics and it’s looking like they’ll all be on Matomo by the end of 2024!

I’ve been using Matomo since Piwik days, much better than Google analytics. I use it with all my websites. The app lets me easily check everything I need from my phone
High Quality Product
Firstly, you own your data. This is great for PII advocates.
Secondly, you have more visibility in your users and their behavior. Great for marketing teams.
Thirdly, Matomo does not sample data. Every hit is a real hit. This is great for data analysts who prefer to start with population data instead of sampled data.

Really nice, but needs UX improvements
I’ve used Matomo for a long time, it’s a great project! You get all your analytics data, instead of sampled data like GA.
The mobile pp is fairly nice, but some aspects are awkward to use. The date picker UI isn’t intuitive, I can’t select a date range or compare metrics for date ranges (w/w, m/m, y/y, etc).
Hope the maintainers could devote some effort to improving this. It’s something I miss from Google Analytics.

Nice analytics package. Really rough iOS app
This is just not a good/usable/helpful iOS app. It needs a lot of thought and work. This is open source, but it’s not helpful to lower your expectations just because it’s “libre”. This leads to the death of systems.
Blows GA out of the water.
It’s really good, but lacks the ability to drill down to show relevant information that can otherwise be accessed via desktop web interface.
Would be nice to see multiple past visits per user and things of that nature.

Valuable App for On the Go Data
Rarely do you find an app, especially one that’s in addition to a open source application, that is as useful and fluid as this one is. I already love the Matomo analytics software, and this app is flawless for keeping track of my web data analytics on the go with no issues.
This App Works Great
It is not very often to use an app as good as this one. Matomo analytics works great, and this app is tremendous.
Ditch Google and take control of your tracking
It’s nice to be able to track visitors without anyone else monetising them, something consumers will increasingly reject. This application gives you the insight you need without losing control of your customers data.

Google analytics is the grand daddy of web and mobile app analytics, but it gives you little to no control over your own user data. Matomo is the open source alternative that doesn’t force you to sacrifice on features and gives you full control.
You will need to manage your own system to use Matomo completely free, but if you don’t have the skills or developer bandwidth to manage your own instance then they offer great service at an affordable price.

Nice easy way to check key stats
Such a handy way to have a glance at stats, it’s doesn’t replace the desktop interface, but good for having a quick look while out and about. Thanks Matomo
Good but keep getting network timeout errors when making large requests
It is a good small app but I keep getting network timeout requests when showing data from a week or month.
Doesn’t work with 2-factor auth
Can’t properly try out the app as it doesn’t work when 2-factor auth is enabled.
Outstanding tool
Love it. I was looking for Analytics alternatives from companies respectful of user privacy.

The picture data is not very good
I don’t know how it works,but it works like print a picture,I think it’s not a good idea.
Almost perfect
If only the Dashboard could be configured to show ‘Today’s stats’ automatically rather than having to manually set the date, this app would be completely perfect. As it is; the interface is clean, it’s fast and responsive and best of all, Matomo doesn’t spy on everyone like Google Analytics does.
Makes checking stats much easier
I use the web interface for Matomo, so very pleased to find mobile app. Slick and reliable, just what I need
