Other reviews

I wish I would have read these other reviews before purchasing this. It worked great ONE time & now it’s having the same problem as the other people. “Thermometer not found.” And yes - I have tried everything -changing batteries, deleting and reinstalling app, on cradle/off cradle.

Never works

Have been trying for over an hour to get this to connect. It says the e thermometer is found but just sits there “connecting”. At one point it said it needed an update. It sat spinning for almost an hour before I deleted everything and started over. Since then, same thing, “found” but the app just spins and says “connecting”. Phone shows connected, tried it in its charger and out. Nothing.
Even the error that comes up isn’t correct. It says “try.. it’s cradle and try again”. Try what? IN its cradle? OUT of its cradle? Doesn’t matter. Neither works. Then don’t think you’re going to be using anytime the day you want to use it. The only help is via email! Don’t waste your time or money!

Worthless

Bought a brand new thermometer that is now just a fancy kitchen paperweight. The app connected once for about 30 seconds, then never again. Of course I destroyed the box trying to get it out of the packaging so now I can’t return it. Do not buy, if I had known how terrible the app I had to use is I wouldn’t have ever purchased.

Unable to connect Bluetooth

I purchased the meat it plus device from Williams Sonoma last year. I have been having difficulty getting the thermometer to connect with my phone. I changed batteries, reset the thermometer, removed the app and reinstalled on my phone. So far no luck. I’m disappointed since the one other time I used it, it worked great. Not sure what the next step is.

Probe won’t connect

The probe and the charging stations are both right next to the phone and charged, I’ve tried it inside the dock, and outside the dock and the probe just won’t connect to the phone after 10 tries, this product is garbage

Doesn’t work

Return this product if you can, the thermometer is reading an ambient temperature 100 degrees different than the oven temperature. The internal temperature reading is 30 degrees off from my manual kitchen thermometer

The app is horrible.

I am returning this thermometer. If the app doesn’t work. The thermometer doesn’t either. It took forever to connect to Bluetooth and recognize the thermometer. I am returning this. I can’t use a product like this.

No good

Both of my probes are way off. One by 12 degrees one by 10, these are useless.

Pork Tenderloin

I was so excited to use this thermometer . It was easily off by 15 degrees. So bummed

Much more professional looking

Glad to see this product getting the software it deserves finally. The UI is much improved over the old MeatIt+ app. Finally, I get a forecast of when the food will be done cooking. The original app has pics of that feature, but I never saw a prediction. The help is also useful to get things working. I provided some feedback to them via the app. We’ll see how long it takes to see the improvements arrive. One thing that’s missing is the WiFi extender capability, which was implemented terribly in the original app. It should just use the cloud and not local WiFi, if that’s too hard. A device that connects to the cloud when another device is already supporting cooks with devices should just be automatically available to monitor and receive notifications on your watch from your phone. I don’t want to keep looking at my phone while being with my guests. Just buzz my wrist when something needs my attention. Also, the app should just detect that I pulled a probe from its charger. This is minor, but an extra step to hit add. [Fixed in v 1.1.0 Thanks!] I wish it would say what time it’s expecting the food to be done as well and I wish it included post cook waiting time that includes monitoring the foods carryover cooking/cooling rate. An extra timer for waiting 15 minutes to clean would also be handy. Timers are much simpler than before, but missing a notify me X amount of time before being done. It does automatically notify you when food is almost done and done. I should note the the “ding” you receive on the device is too quiet to get your attention. However, if the app is backgrounded or phone locked, your Apple Watch does get your attention. I’m not sure, but I was cooking a chicken breast with one on the grill and it wasn’t going very fast, yet it said ideal cooking speed. I’d like this to be a gradient so you can see if you should go a little faster or slower. I should mention that they now show the ambient temperature near the food on the display. Vastly different from my BBQ thermometer (75 degrees lower). They dropped selection of what type of device I’m cooking in. I’m guessing it didn’t matter for the cook. I did like how you selected the type of meat first and then the cut. It seems like you could just combine poultry (chicken, turkey, duck) into one item, if there’s no actual difference between the choices after that selection. Though it does instill confidence that they thought about the specific meat and part I’m cooking when I can select it. Similar situation for fish. How about burgers? They can be veggie, beef, turkey, and impossible patties. I’m guessing they don’t get cooked to same internal temperature and I might want rare, medium rare, medium, medium well, or well. They’re a French company so perhaps tar tar. ;) Burgers need cooling time, so I’d ideally like it to manage that using the temperature info for me as well, as opposed to giving me a timer. Again I’d like to know when the cook will be done after the expected resting time. Saving a favorite cook should remember my reminder settings too. Some minor typos that don’t really affect anything except professionalism. So those should be fixed. I reported them in email. Easy fixes Oh and while I shouldn’t be too excited, this app supports portrait mode right out of the gate, something I really wanted for iPad in the old app but never happened. So glad to see the more professional look and hope to see some nice fixes and enhancements in the near future.
