Upscaling Failed and Distorted the Original Image
Rather than actually enlarging the artwork, the app created a much larger transparent canvas and left the image itself close to its original size. The exported 4000 × 4000 PNG contained the artwork only in a small portion of the canvas. More concerning, the processing also introduced visible distortions and artifacts into the image, including altered textures and displaced elements.
The app specifically promotes PNG alpha-channel support and image upscaling, so this result was particularly disappointing. The interface is straightforward, and I appreciate the focus on local processing and privacy, but the core function I needed did not perform reliably.
I would be willing to try the app again if the developer corrects the scaling behavior and improves fidelity when processing transparent artwork.
Response from developer
Thank you for the detailed report - it made this easy to track down. Transparent PNG handling has been reworked in 2.0, now on the App Store: alpha artwork scales to the full output size, and colours hold right up to the transparent edge. Worth another run at the artwork that gave you trouble. Since nothing leaves your device, we're reliant on descriptions like yours - if anything still looks off, or there's a feature you'd want, support@security-tech.org is the place.
