Yes!

I suddenly thought, would it be great if such an app existed. After a quick trip of 2 others watch were virtually unusable I found this. It’s perfect. The fact that it has perfect effects for the Pablo sound is the icing on the cake. Well done whoever you are. And thank you.

Response from developer

Glad to hear that!

Too quiet to enjoy

The sound is very appealing, except there is no perceivable volume control. I see where a review that was posted a year ago reported the same issue. If it’s a user issue, then some sort of in-app FAQ or other instructional help would suffice. Otherwise, please pump up the volume!

Response from developer

A fix for this recent issue, (the review you refer to was 1 month ago) will be available shortly. Thank you for your patience.

Volume?

I have an iPhone and was using this app in the past. With recent updates there’s no volume. No matter how much I turn up the volume you can’t hear it through the speaker. The sound is really low. Not sure what happened but the app is useless if I can’t hear the sound.

A fix for this recent issue will be available shortly. Thank you for your patience.

Leider nicht mehr in GarageBand aufrufbar als externes Instrument

… und deswegen für mich nutzlos geworden ..-

Response from developer

Melodica maybe loaded as an external AUv3 instrument in Garageband.

Excellent sound - now usable as an AUV3!

This is a very good recreation of the sound of a melodica, which with the inbuilt reverb and delay, is capable of easily producing those plaintive sobs and brass-ish stabs featured in dub music. And now, after a long wait, it is a proper AUV3 and so completely usable as an instrument inside AUM. Note that during installation I 1) opened it standalone and 2) had to soft reboot my iPad before AUM could find it, but now it does, and those lovely, lovely plaintive sobs are fully available, Great to see a dev persevere and make their instrument better and more usable. :)

Update: AUV3 support has been added in version 1.9

Problems

I’m don’t want to rate this too low, because it’s just been updated. But it’s not showing up in Cubasis or AUM, and the sound level is barely audible. So I’ll give it a 3 and hope it gets fixed.

Response from developer

No reports of not loading in the usual hosts (AUM, Cubasis, Garageband), AUM pictured in write up here : https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/50530/melodica-by-gary-newby-has-been-updated-with-auv3-support. Get in touch at mmsupport@mellowmuse.com.

No audio unit or inter app audio support

Nice enough app but without this basic functionality it makes it impossible to use with any sort of recording app such as GarageBand or Cubasis. Please add this.

Found so

When playing music at iPhone x and newest its get out of the app
Please create some thinks to not get out from it

Decent sound and Dynamics but...

... Please, please, please can't you enable this app to work with other music apps in the background??

Response from developer

Thanks, I will address that in the next update.

Sustain please

Please add a sustain feature so I can set it to drone

Unterstützt leider keine Midicontroller

Also die App ist schon super. Sound ist super usw, dich leider funktioniert die App nicht mit meinem midikeyboard (akai lpk25). Wenn man das ändern würde hätte die App 5Sterne

Response from developer

Thanks for your feedback. I'll add the ability to play Melodica from an external midi source in the next update.

It doesn’t work

Breath is doing nothing, and all keys go off at once and won’t stop even if I’m not touching it.

needs selectable rotation

The app forces rotation that is "upside down" on my iPad Air -- makes it effectively left-handed if I want to use breath-control. Need option to select rotation.

sweet little ap

Short keyboard, but sounds just like a melodica. Can adjust reverb, touch sensitivity and a couple of other things that I haven't tried yet. It is fun to fool around with, but could actually be used to accompany other music. Sounds very Parisienne. ... And ...you don't have to turn blue breathing into the little tube like you do on a real melodica.

Love it.

Not much to it.

I don't want to sound criticizing when I say I expected a little more. The app itself is perfectly fine and functions very well, but I don't think I'd buy it again if I could.

Breath function needs work !!

Even In breath mode you can touch the keys and get a note which is not how it should be and is very annoying. The actual melodica sound is quite good but in breath mode it would be more realistic to have a bit of portamento or pich bend. I would use this app a lot more if the breath mode was fixed and behaved like a real wind instrument. Shame.

Okay could use some work

Keys stick. Need quicker ability to swap between octaves and stay there. Was craving the Hohner sound - closer but still no cigar. Breath control is novelty and nice touch. Buy if you're bored.
