Top reviews

Great app for ear training

I am using this app for some time and it’s addictive. You can practice on different scales and lots of options to choose.

Good app but stupid message

Could you stop or gave an option to stop thé congratulations messages, please.
It's stupid

Response from developer

Set "Feedback" to "Wrong" if you only want messages for incorrect melodies. Set "Feedback" to "Never" to stop all messages :) You'll only see congratulations messages when "Feedback" is set to "Always". Thanks for the review!

Fun

Fun and addictive

Response from developer

:) I agree!

Bonne appli

Merci beaucoup! Pardonnez-moi, je ne parle pas français ... I recommend using the + and - keyboard range control to set the keyboard to a small range such as "C, D" or "C, D, E" if you're a beginner. You can make the range larger if it's too easy for you – all the way up to 12 notes in a major scale (ex. "C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C, D, E, F, G"). Everyone learns differently, so I've decided to let the users choose how difficult they want the exercises to be. Some people would rather change the scale before changing the keyboard range. Your suggestion for the guitar neck is interesting – personally I've been playing guitar longer than I've been playing piano :) However, touch screens are better suited for a piano interface, and MIDI keyboards make it possible to play this app with a physical keyboard.

Very good app

App is very well done and levels of difficulty make it easy to progress

Simplest and Most Fun

I never write reviews but this app has been a lot of fun and is a pleasure to use. When they say "highly addictive piano game" they mean it, so watch out. I didn't believe them at first, and then my afternoon disappeared.

Response from developer

Wow, thanks so much for the compliment! It's true, I call it a "highly addictive piano game" because I found myself becoming addicted to playing :) Especially when I set "Feedback" to "Never" and turn on "Autoplay".

Decent program, but missing features.

This is an OK program to practice note recognition. Unfortunately, there appears to be no way to reset progress.

Ideally, the app also needs to keep track of the questions that are missed and then give those questions again and frequently to reduce the amount of wasted time and improve note memory.

Merci beaucoup!

Great Ap!

With great elegance and configurability, the app is a nice tool for learning to hear notes better. I love how this app can serve me as a beginner and with the right settings can challenge or stump my wife, who has a much more developed ear.

I'll be recommending this app to kids and adults. One small tip: on the screen after submitting be your answer, show both my answer AND the corrected answer, so I can mess around more and try to hear the difference between my answer and the truth.

Response from developer

Thanks for the flattering review :) I'll consider your suggestion for the next app update. I want the feedback message to be simple, but it might be cool to hear both your answer and the correct answer as part of the feedback message.

5 stars

Awesome app i love it!

Response from developer

Thanks!

An amazing ear training tool.

I like how simple and effective it is. It just gives random notes instead of designated ones, you can do this every single day and never get tired of it. Wish they can do a chord version.

YEEEEAHH!!

It's back and it's better than ever. So happy! Thank you!

Response from developer

Right on! You're very welcome :)

Well done !

Best ear training app

Best app for ear training. So glad it's back in the store

Response from developer

Thanks for the wonderful review!

Awesome!

It's a fun piano game!

Escroquerie !

L'application se fige dès le premier exercice. Pas de réponse du développeur après l'avoir pourtant contacté via son site ce qui classe cette application dans le groupe des escroqueries à signaler !

Response from developer

Sorry to hear that you experienced a crash. I released an update in early 2015 that resolved this issue. I do my best to reply to all my emails... feel free to contact me again if you have any issues or questions.

Useful app

Nice features. Would like to see selection for type of interval eg ascending only vcb49

Who's writing these reviews?

Well, this guy must have friends writing reviews.
No options for speed. No options for modes or minor scales. No ability to correct entries. Only 1 octave. No option for entering answer without sound. No option to replay exercise to analyze weak spots. Max length of "melody" is 5 notes. Always fun to see how many will be exactly the SAME note. Irritating "feedback" option. "Do Re Mi" has many of these options... how is this competitive? Yeah, it's 2 dollars less, but it's 3 dollars more pointless. And how could it come from a Berklee student? Please.
A waste of time for a free app. And it isn't free.

Response from developer

No, my friends did not write the reviews. Since you've written this review I've added a setting for speed (tempo), the app now includes 13 major scales, the range can be expanded up to 12 notes in a major scale (approximately 1.5 octaves) and the max melody length is now 6 notes. If you're tired of hearing the same note, you can turn off "Allow Unison". If you find the feedback annoying, you can set "Feedback" to "Never" which will stop showing all feedback messages. Alternatively you can set "Feedback" to "Wrong" if you only want to see feedback messages for incorrect melodies. Thanks for the review.

Einfach aber Praxistauglich

Die App. kann man nur weiterempfehlen. Ideal für den Musikunterricht.

Ear training

This is a fantastic app.

I am totally envious of people that can play by ear. I can't. I struggle with intervals, keys, pitch, you name it. My guitar doesn't gently weep, it cries hysterically when I pick it up.
I've downloaded several ear training apps and these help with interval training and this particular app excels because it makes you focus on snippets of melody - ala play by ear. Whilst for me playing by ear is still a bit of a dream, at least this app shows me exactly where I am having the biggest issue and that is a lot more info than I had in the past.
