STOLE MY MONEY, would give 0 stars if possible

Tried to become a Menulog courier to compare against other food delivery driver jobs and when trying to register, they required a police check. Agreed to everything and registered for the police check via. the app, which required a payment of ~$40 AUD, but since it was late I figured I’d continue in the morning. When trying to continue where I left off, there was no continuation of the police check and when attempting to work, it said I had to wait for confirmation of the police check. Essentially a never-ending loop where I needed a police check to work, but there was no way for me to submit or even attempt a police check.

Looked through emails to see if they had sent a link for the police check. Nothing. Tried searching for a method to continue the police check. Nothing. Tried finding a way to contact Menulog in regards to this, and when trying almost every avenue of contact. I got nothing in return.

Btw this happened 1.5-2 years ago and tried resolving this the whole time.

TLDR; The company got a $40 pay-check and I got scammed from a police check and horrible app design. Also, no driver support if things go wrong.

Stay far away from this courier app. There are much better options to choose from.

App is not working after update

After the update which was done just 2 days ago, I can’t seem to logout, end run, get any new orders, nothing and the screen keeps on running on the same page saying matching you to orders but it’s not working at all. You can’t even end run or get out of the app, I have tried deleting the app and getting it again, I have tried with my tablet and there is no use, I have sent pictures and everything to the help centre but no one is answering and I have received no response at all and I can’t work since 2 days ago and some of my payments have been gone and its all awful. I wish you could fix this very fast cause this is very disturbing… the error it keeps on showing is : Unable to complete your request. Please try again in a moment.

Bad customer support

I’m giving the app one star because of a very poor experience with the support team. As a courier driver, I’ve repeatedly tried to contact them during the daytime using their live chat, but they only respond in the middle of the night, usually around 2 AM or 5 AM. By that time, I’m asleep. When they finally respond, they wait a few minutes and then close the chat, saying I’m not replying. Of course I’m not replying, because I’m sleeping at that hour. It’s really frustrating because they take so long to respond in the first place, and I have no way of knowing when they’ll get back to me. The support system needs to be available during normal working hours for drivers, not in the middle of the night. Please improve the response times and availability of your support team.

Menulog courier

This app is ok at best. I’ve been delivering orders through Menulog for a few years now.
I used to be quite busy when I first started; but these days it’s hard to pick up enough orders to stay busy and earn.
The way the scheduling works is just terrible! You can only “lock in” 4 hour maximum shifts. Not work the entire day if so wish. Open runs can be hard to come by!
The biggest flaw as a driver is not being shown exactly what’s in each order?!?! So you don’t know if any items are missing because you can’t see the specifics in a customer’s order! You’re trusting the staff who pack the orders don’t stuff it up! Puts the driver at a big disadvantage. You can’t see how big or small an order is.
It really needs fixing ASAP. I can’t stress that enough!
Accessing help if needed on a particular order is terrible also! It’s so slow. I’ve found myself repeating myself often before I get any kind of help.
Overall the app doesn’t run as smoothly as other similar food delivery apps I use. Can be lots of glitches while it’s running too. A lot of work can be done to make it run smoother.

Needs Improvement, major flaws

My experience with the Menulog Courier app has been less than satisfactory. One major issue is the difficulty in adding zones. The app fails to display them properly, leaving me frustrated and unable to efficiently plan my routes.

Another major flaw is the unreliable notification system for new orders. There have been numerous occasions where I’ve missed orders because the app failed to notify me in a timely manner. It’s incredibly frustrating to only receive notifications after orders have already timed out, leading to missed opportunities and unhappy customers.

Furthermore, the customer support chat feature is inconsistent at best. Messages often fail to sync, requiring constant refreshing just to stay connected. This lack of reliability makes it difficult to communicate effectively with support when issues arise.

Overall, the Menulog Courier app needs significant improvement in terms of functionality and reliability. Until these issues are addressed, it’s difficult to recommend this app to other couriers.

have to get up at 4am in the morning to pick up extra shifts

Had to get up at 4am to grab open runs , cause the shifts they gave you are just barely anything . (Maybe 3 hours for the whole week) so you have to pick up open runs . But they only releases the open runs every 4am in the morning for the past year . Today I finally had enough since I woke up 4am and waited until 5:20am and it’s still not released any open runs . What the hell is this ? Menulog ? Why can’t you release open runs at a normal time like 8am or 9am ? Why chose 4am for summer time and 2am for winter in Australia ? Why ? Do you take our drives live as a joke ? No wonder why your app only rates a 2.7 out of 5 . Ohh hold on you don’t even care about the rates . What a joke in this industry

Dodgy company

I had an app error that prevented me from getting jobs for months on end, and Menulog did not resolve it. I received correspondence stating that I did not get any jobs during that period because I did not schedule shifts. (illegal by the way, as we are contractors not employees.) I complained about how I was spoken to and what was said, and the manager of incidents and safety contacted me directly. They stated that they don’t owe any particular amount of work (“that’s the gig economy”), glitches aren’t uncommon, and that reimbursement would not be possible, even though I argued that their own definition of a service failure included themselves failing to provide their service to contractors. I cancelled my contract and told them to remove my account as I would not be coming back to work for them. The definition of a service failure was later changed and I never got anything for a glitch that kept me online with no job requests. The manager did say he flies to work from Gold Coast to Sydney every day, so that was a nice flex on his behalf, telling someone they left high and dry over Christmas.

All good at the beginning but then, it got worse and worse.

All was good when I started because I got close trips and considering the fact that I’m on a bicycle, that’s the idea. Then, longer and longer trips started to appear (5km+), sometimes even 2km+ for only picking up the order, so, sometimes even with the traffic and other things, we got delayed and the app starts to push and if takes too long, even removing the order. Additional to this, the app started to send schedules that won’t even show an order. In summary, nowadays is not a good option to get money as even if you combine apps, this team would start emailing you that you’re constantly detouring when all we want is to earn a fair wage per hour so, I don’t recommend this unless you want to constantly be threatened by a team about your account being closed.

Menulog driver

I enjoy being a menulog driver for the exercise but I have noticed the same thing - I’ve waited like 20mins for some orders which isn’t a big deal but I didn’t know you’re meant to be reimbursed for it.
But more importantly you sit around for hours and don’t get 1 job. Given how big Sydney is, either the market is saturated or there are no jobs for Menulog. I’ve done 1 order in 3 hours as my worst run so far and you feel pressure to click “food picked up” just so you have to more time for another order to drop in!
As a result it’s not reliable work and I would recommend it as a part time job.

Account still not activated

I did everything, submitted all my documents, got my thermal bag approved, got my background check, and still it’s been weeks and my account hasn’t been activated. Tried to get into contact with their support team multiple times and still no response.

I found one website that said if there is no need for extra drivers, our account activation will be placed on hold until there is more demand for drivers, and also that they would notify us if this was the case. Unfortunately, I haven’t received a single email or text or anything that tells me about this temporary hold whatsoever. They’ve put me on hold for quite a while with no explanation.

Unfortunately the only way I can show Menulog that they have horrible customer service is by leaving a negative review as well as never using their service again. Plenty of other alternatives like doordash and Ubereats, never had problems with them. Vote with your wallet and don’t give this company money. Your business blunder has lost you thousands of dollars.

Great but 2 major flaws

Menulog have created a great easy to use app, much easier then other courier apps I’ve used, but it has 2 major flaws.

1. The “chat now” function consistently disappears so when your in need of assistance you can’t get it. There is no contact number for help or guidance that the website doesn’t give you, there is an email address to contact but it takes minimum 48 hrs for a response.

2. No incentive for extending runs, even during busy times you instantly loose your bonuses during your extended run (overflow), this causes couriers to not extend their runs and therefore customers potentially not getting orders but this needs to be changed at a higher level then app developers

Bad Bad menulog

Can't cancel order! Long order matching time!
Long order waiting time! Poor driver service! No waiting time money! ! Most ridiculous part is schedule, on a job like this you want people schedule before work but can't work whenever they want that means. They all running to UBER. thats why you have thousands of order waiting for collect but no driver. Cause you dont even care about driver. You only care about customers. like i wait 15 minutes+ most of the time at kfc and the result is i only waited a minute when talk to support, a few bad word cost me get banned for few hours and new order canceled upon arrivle by support without my premission which is very good on you. Every company that not respect worker will not go far. That's why UBER so far ahead of you. As a new delivery app, menulog is so BAD. Now you getting cold( with 2 or 3 years?) no one ordering much no driver much. How awesome.

Bad app, and terrible service to their drivers

App is garbage, sometimes doesn’t even notify you of new offers so you have to constantly check it while driving.

Bugs out a lot and randomly restarts, missed plenty of orders because of this.

Reimbursement rate is a joke.

Response time for assistance will take minimum 20 minutes, so if you need to cancel an order you’re better off actually waiting.

Menulog treats it’s drivers as expendable, and many orders rip you off for the KMs used. mostly Most of the drivers are undocumented immigrants and so menulog can get away with all of this.

My account was also deactivated recently with no warning or email, have contacted support and still no response after 3 days. I suspect because I forgot to drop two runs this week which I had scheduled. Menulog truly is garbage, work for Uber and Doordash. Menulog is that extra little bit of money for drivers if Uber and Doordash is slow. Multi app guys don’t let these disgusting companies take advantage of you and your time.

Works great but needs to be little bit more flexible

I’ve always made very good money not only during covid nd study periods but also after any time i was in need of extra money. Menulog always helps me well but yes a little bit earnings are deviating bcz so many people doing this now. I want courrier app to have continuous runs like 4 pm till 1 am and not small small shifts because sometimes I don’t get extensions and I’ve to sit empty for half an hour or if i get extension its not worth it to go other areas bvz after half n hr i hv to return to my area. But yes it’s still very good money , u can never get such decent pay with uber eats, menulog rewards very well to hard working drivers like me. And best thing u can choose ur preferable areas nd work accordingly nearby where u stay, unlike uber nd doordash which can throw u anywhere anytime. Menulog keeps u bounded in an area so u become area specialist with all streets mugged up in ur mind. I love it , but I HOPE I can make same amnt of money I was making before a year, it’s getting quiet in night times. Anyways for now m happy and to be honest I survived my whole student life only and only with menulog making what I always wanted or more than that, but never less. Thanks menulog for supporting me a lot, I owe u a lot.

Incentive not managed well

Recently I was informed for eligible for bonus $200 upon completion of 25 deliveries in selected zones, I did complete but am not paid even after 2 weeks. When I enquired, I was first asked to submit screenshots of incentive emails received and completed deliveries. After these submission, I was asked to submit a copy of money deposited through menulog. Thereafter, I was asked to submit bank statement. Finally, after sharing all these documents and consuming few days, I was informed that I am not eligible as the incentive was not in my zone. But I have already checked the zone prior to commencing my deliveries. So something is fishy, unprofessional or lack of integrity. I am not sharing this for want of money but for the benefit of other deliverer’s convenience. I suggest you followings: 1. Once deliverer opt to partake in incentive/bonus delivery, option to choose zone should be given, after which if the selected zone is eligible it should be notified in app confirming the participation.
2. After confirmation, the track of deliveries should be automatically updated in apps versus required deliveries rather than asking evidence of deliveries made from participants.
3. Once incentive required deliveries are completed, the app should notify automatically on its completion and amount should be deposited accordingly rather than asking for evidence of bank deposit and statement.
I am sorry if I have mistakenly mentioned anything wrong but if worth something of improving, please do so. I am giving low rate for improvement purpose but no hard feelings. Best wishes ahead

Swipe bar is a hassle

I personally think this app is half decent, I really struggle with this slide bar at the bottom, sometimes I have to swipe twice for it to go to the next step or sometimes it doesn’t swipe at all and I have to stand there swiping the same spot over and over until it decides it will work, this also has nothing to do with my mobile phone as I’ve tried on other devices, but preferably a new option other than the swipe would be a good idea to insure quicker deliveries and less time on the phone worrying about swiping, other than that it’s not too bad

Occasionally, Courier is average ⚙️

Menulog does an OKAY job creating a platform for their drivers to get out on delivery runs. I seldom use Courier, and only log on in spare time. I could not use this as a way to make full-time earnings. The issues are too much sometimes.
Issues include:
• needing to swipe twice to proceed to the next GUI while assigned to an order.
• Location access must be set to 'Always', otherwise the app will not work! I am constantly being reminded that Courier has been accessing my location in the background, when I have not opened the app for at least a week. 😵‍💫
• Sometimes the app will not notify the driver of an incoming order and will display a small banner for the request on screen. Without an aural cue, this makes Courier a distraction for drivers who must constantly scan the screen. PS sound was configured correctly in these instances.
• all issues aside, I enjoy this app. It is friendly and works well for most of the time. As a casual user, my only concern is the location access. Please amend this to only require 'While using the app'!!!

Worst job and just a waste of time

I wish I could say everything I have to say in here. However this is the worst app to work with. You have to wait 1-3 hours just to get an order match and I don’t understand why, but after the Christmas 2021 , the app became way more worse, I have zero clue about it and the online chat team is mostly super rude. You start a run and wait for hours just to get a one order and if you work on this app as a full time job, then you better find another way to torture yourself. You wait for a whole day with full availability and you can only make maximum $100, also I hear people most of the times talk bad about menulog as well. Sometimes When you go to a restaurant , the people work there say, “there are so many menulog deliveries waiting to be picked up for hours now but no driver came” and you wait hours until they match you to an order while tens of them are waiting to be picked up. The service is purely bad and a waste of time, gas and energy, I’m happily quitting this job and when I see other reviews people wrote here , I feel like I’m not the only one to feel this way. Do it as a part time job maybe 3-4 days a week for less than 4 hours if you think this will do something, but other than that, just stay away form this courier app.

Hi ime_san, thanks for reaching out, we'd love to connect you with our dedicated courier experience team, so they assist you. If you reach out to couriers@menulog.com with the subject title 'Courier App Review' our team will follow up with you ASAP.

Don’t care about their drivers.

Do a favor for yourself and don’t work for this company. They treat you as your time don’t worth nothing. You can wait 30min in the restaurant for the order be ready and they will not give you not even 1$ more, and if you know that some restaurant takes long to prepare the food and when you got the order from them you realise that is from that place and decide to decline, the app will reduce your acceptance rate. The same when dropping the order, you can wait the customer for a long time that they will not give you a compensation for the time. The don’t care about the drives. I work for Uber, doordash and Menulog and Menulog is the worst by far.

Response from developer

Hey luck_mack, that definitely doesn't sound right, as we pay a holding fee to couriers who have to wait longer than 5 minutes at a restaurant. If you find that you have not been compensated, we definitely want to investigate this for you and rectify any issues ASAP. Please reach out to our support team at couriers@menulog.com with your details and the team will investigate this further.

Not Optimised for iPhone 12 Pro Max

Great app, easy to navigate and understand. Nice and quick to use and love the integration with Maps.

Two issues: currently isn’t optimised for the slightly taller iPhone 12 Pro Max screen, so swiping actions are a little low on the screen causing the app to switch to previously opened app. Buttons such as earnings amount and X at the top are a little high, causing them to be cropped visually and missed when attempting to tap on them.

Second issue is all times for some reason don’t factor in daylight savings time, so I have to mentally add an hour to each time. Normally manageable but have to remember that a shift starts and finishes an hour later than what’s on the schedule.
