What's New in Meteor Wheel

5.2

October 12, 2026

Navigation has been updated to the latest iOS standard. On iPad, the tab bar can now be turned into a sidebar. Tap the sidebar button at the left of the tab bar to switch between the two. Shower pages, parent bodies and the Reference explainers now read in a comfortable column rather than running the full width of the screen. The iPhone layout is unchanged. A new astronomy engine. Peak times, dark windows, radiant heights and moonrise are calculated more precisely than ever, and shower peaks now line up exactly with the International Meteor Organization's calendar. Faster all round. Tonight, the Wheel and the Calendar open and scroll noticeably more smoothly. Plan from anywhere. Each observing site now keeps its own time zone, so a trip abroad shows that site's night in local time, wherever your phone happens to be. Smarter alerts. Peak-night reminders arrive in the early evening at your observing site, and keep good time when you travel. Better place search. Finding a site by name now picks up its time zone automatically, and you can choose one by hand when you're offline.

Save your money...

Less than useless. As it is, this is a ripoff. One star is too much.

Outdated

This ap has 2009 info. It gives very little in the way of specifics. No updates with current info. A VERY weak ap.

Do NOT buy... No information

Disappointing doesn't cover it. No detailed, updated info on where and what time you can watch showers.
Total rip off. The developper should be ashamed of him/herself!
Please do better with a detailed update. Feel obliged to report this, unfortunately...

Disappointing

I want to know when I can watch the meteor shower in my location, not the basic facts that I already know. Waste of $0.99

Nice idea, but its not executed very well.

There is a major bug in that the text in the information window seems to be missing bits at the bottom, like it should scroll but it doesnt. Nasty font on the main screen as well. Also, it should ideally contain a few more of the major meteor showers. I would love to see this app fleshed out and the bugs fixed as its a really neat idea for casual skywatchers, but i wouldnt recommend it in its current state.
