What's New in Wiccan Wheel of the Year

3.0

September 3, 2026

Version 3.0 is a complete rewrite. The app has been rebuilt from nothing for the modern iPhone, and no code from the 2013 release survives in it. WHAT THE REWRITE IS FOR The eight festivals are now computed rather than printed. Solstices and equinoxes are solved from the real solar position using Meeus, Astronomical Algorithms, and land within about a minute of published values. The four Gaelic fire festivals have no published series at all, so the app solves directly for the sun's apparent longitude at 315, 45, 135 and 225 degrees. Both dates are always shown, the conventional one the tradition prints and the astronomical instant the sun actually arrives at, with the drift between them. NEW IN THIS VERSION The Wheel. Eight engraved sigils on a drawn gold wheel, a seasonal wash graduating round the ring, a month ring placed by real solar longitude, and an ornate hand tracking where the sun stands today. The Sky tab. Sunrise, solar noon, sunset, day length and the change since yesterday. Solar declination and the sun's altitude at noon. A day length curve across the year with the eight festivals marked on it. The Almanac. Every sabbat computed for any year from 1900 to 2100, both date columns side by side, searchable across names, alternate names, themes and correspondences. The Traditions tab. How Gardnerian and Alexandrian Wicca, Druidry, Norse and Anglo Saxon observance, Celtic Reconstructionism and secular practice name and date the same eight points. Full lore for all eight festivals. Pronunciation, mythology, attested folklore, correspondences, foods, practice and per-festival sources, with the modern twentieth-century material labelled as modern rather than sold as ancient. Northern and southern hemisphere, detected from your location or chosen by hand, with the wheel turning to suit. A home screen widget in two sizes, carrying the next festival and its countdown. It computes its own dates rather than reading them from the app, so it cannot go stale. Optional festival reminders, with your own lead time from the day itself out to a fortnight ahead. New artwork throughout. Eight painted seasonal plates, eight engraved gold sigils and a new icon. UNCHANGED One purchase, and that is the end of it. No subscription, no in-app purchases, no ads, no tracking, no analytics and no network calls of any kind.

Please update!

I loved this app but it’s not supported on the new iOS. Hoping you all will update, I’ll miss my magical little color changing season clock 😢

Was great for the few times I could use it

But is now unusable without updates. Last update was four years ago. No idea why this app is even available still. Have to delete it as it no longer works.

Update Please

I really enjoy this app whenever I can use it. If you guys would update it to work with iOS 11 that would be fantastic. It’s such a waste of time and money when you download something that you like and you can’t use it because it’s not updated.

Doesn't work

No new update to work with newer versions of iOS. Spent .99 to find this out after!

Needs a few fixes for 5 stars

I really like this straightforward app. You can open it and see exactly where you are in the wheel. However the dates are not dependable. If that was fixed I would give it 5 stars. If you are looking for a quick reference to the wheel with a little info thrown in, then it's worth having.
