User reviews

Pro não tá funcionando

Eu comprei o produto pro, mas não está funcionando, aparece como se eu não tivesse comprado, mas já debitou do meu cartão e o aplicativo continua pedindo pra mim obter o pro

It's nice when it actually works

Sometimes it'll record. Sometimes it refuses to. Completely closing the app and restarting works most of the time.

Quand ça marche, ça marche mais..

Tellement souvent des mini bugs.. bugs du jour.. refus de démarrer caméra (trop de mouvements) j’utilise un trépied..

Pay walls and inaccurate velocity readings.

Can’t track ur trends workout to workout without paying. Very finicky doesn’t recognize plates unless ur angle is perfect and the velocity readings change depending on the angle. Not accurate. Was promising too.

Has potential

This is a nice idea but the level of reiability is way too low for the high subscription cost. Inadequate diagnostics for the frequent tracking fails.

FAQ

What does the Metric app do?

Metric is an advanced workout tracking app that combines traditional logging with velocity-based training. It uses your phone's camera to measure barbell speed, providing insights into fatigue, recovery, and progression without requiring expensive external hardware.

How does the velocity tracking work?

The app utilizes your iPhone or iPad's camera to record your lifts. It then analyzes the video to generate precise, validated measurements of bar speed for over 60 exercises. This allows you to monitor fatigue through velocity loss during sets and receive audio cues for specific velocity targets.

Is the app free to use?

The app offers a freemium model. While you can download and use core features, advanced functionalities and full access to insights are typically available through a subscription. Users have reported taking out annual subscriptions after testing the app.

What kind of performance insights can I get?

Metric provides a range of performance insights, including monitoring strength progression, tracking power output trends, analyzing Range of Motion (ROM) consistency, viewing velocity trends over time, and calculating estimated 1RM based on scientific velocity profiles. It also offers load-velocity and load-power profiling.

What devices is the app compatible with?

The app is designed to work with the camera on your iPhone or iPad. Users have mentioned using it on devices like the iPhone 6P, indicating compatibility with a range of iOS devices capable of recording video.
