Update
So now we can’t use our iPads that do not have ios17 mind you my IPad is on the latest update that it's available for it 16.7.16. Another missed step from the herald.
Not Ready For Prime Time
The Miami Herald’s app has always left something to be desired, but as of today this update is full of bugs and not worth installing. I’d wait a few weeks.
Good Newspaper, Lousy App
Chock full of ads and jumping screens make articles almost unreadable . Come on, a great newspaper can do better.
Missing basic features
No dark mode support for a newspaper application in 2026 is crazy.
Junk
Not too surprisingly this newspaper takes no pride in offering a quirky user interface more focused on delivering advertising than even basic news content. The iPhone app doesn’t remember login, keeps articles for weeks, gets stuck in basic navigation loops, doesn’t allow access to commentary, etc.

Finally Cancelled Subscription
After years of reporting sign in problems and lack of accessibility to the email address provided in the responses to reviews and nothing being fixed, I’ve finally cancelled my subscription. It’s disappointing, as I really want to support local journalism, but I can’t justify the price when I can’t even access the content after paying for it.

Still have to log in constantly to this pathetic app
I pay a fortune for a paper subscription to support the great reporters at the Herald. You would think they would have an app that can remember my log on credentials for more than a few days. Unbelievable.
Canceling Herald subscription
Awful app and site and getting worse.
Login is insulting and worst by far of any of my subscriptions.
I’ve updated app, cleared caches and tried various browsers. Nothing works.
On app, will send me in infinite loop, then dump me into new subscription page with no way out.
On site, does much the same thing.
Enough. Great content. Terrible access.

Log on again?
The Miami Herald app is about as basic as it gets. Embarrassing compared to other news apps I use. I am a daily print subscriber so I pay them over $1000/year. Despite that, the apps on my phone and iPad demand I log on about once a week. Really? Don’t get me started about the browser version on my computer. At least the MH reporters (what’s left of them) are fantastic.

Can’t even log on
Why does this app even exist? Try as I might I unable to log on unless I uninstall the app and then reinstall it. Even then, it’s good for one occasion. Once I close it I can’t log in again without uninstalling it first. This should be a simple procedure but the devs can’t seem to get it right. FYI, I’m running an iPhone 15 w most recent iOS update and it still won’t work.
At this point, I’m near just canceling my subscription.

App is terrible
The app works half the time. It’s the worst, you would think that the paper could figure out some basic 3rd party app to use that was decent - nope. A 3rd grader could build something better.
clunkiest news app on the net
Id give it a zero but i hate to see the dedicated herald writers penalized. Cant log in to e-edition. stuck in a loop. many stories posted are old and often repeated. This is a prime example of why the herald is doomed, not for content but for incompetent business decisions and obsolete technology that doesnt work. It is fraud to sell this

New update for authentication still not working
The app still is not working when I try to use my Apple credentials. I’ve emailed customer service and they said try uninstalling and reinstalling the app and log in with Apple. I’ve done it twice. I send customer service screenshots. Still nothing. App does not work when you buy the subscription through Apple.

Digital copy
I get the miami herald newspaper and am supposed to get a digital copy daily but don’t. I’ve called every day for four days. They tell me it will be in morning email….it isn’t. So frustrated and am thinking of ca ncelling.
Miami Herald app doesn’t work
Since 2009 years I enjoyed the Miami Herald. I don’t even live in Miami. When they changed their app it wrecked access. Won’t load. Can’t see the sports I follow. It will cause me to cancel my subscription.
Useless
I tap on the headings to switch from Local news to the next and nothing happens; it’s the same with all the headings. Useless!
Why does a great newspaper have such a terrible app?
Poorly designed, almost impossible to zero in on articles I am most interested in. Way overdue for new App team.
Final Nail
The Herald was just barely hanging on for me before this update. At least it read like a real paper. This new update has totally destroyed the Herald for me. Most of the articles are repeated or old. No real flow. Steep subscription price.
