Best Teacher Ever
I have learned so much by watching Michael’s techniques for achieving realism and his listening to his explanations as to why he is doing this, placing that there, changing the color, and to which color, and the reason for doing so, etc.
I learn when I understand the logic, and Michael provides the logic.
Best money I ever spent on classes, and I considered it for nearly a year. No regrets - money well spent.
Oh, also, I like that he doesn’t blather on and on while he paints. He talks when there is something he is teaching - otherwise he is quiet. I am very glad about that.

Rewarding
So happy I signed on for the second year with MJSTV. Such a rewarding course where using the techniques I have learned, I am able to surprise myself. Other on-line courses bombard students with spam and hard sell. Very happy to be here.

I love this site. You feel like you are sitting right next to Michael watching him paint and hear him describe what he is doing and why.
Exceptional
Watching his methods is like watching a magician. Yet, it works. I can paint along with Michael and learn more than any university program.
Transformative Instruction
My artwork has improved considerably since becoming a member of MJS TV. I love the lessons and Michaels approach to oil painting. Im incredibly happy to be one of Michael’s students. I’m painting again feel inspired to paint more often. I can complete an entire painting in one sitting which is amazing to me. I would recommend MJS TV instruction to anyone who wants to learn how to paint or wants to improve their skills.

I have learned a lot in a short amount of time with Michael. Especially the use of the Rigger Brush!!! I am from Utah—and am starting to pronounce “Rigger Brush” just like Michael🤣

MJS review
Michael is a great teacher. I have seen huge improvements in my painting skills over the past year. I highly recommend even if you are a beginner!
This is the best app
With this application, after a few lessons, my friends seeing my paintings think that I have been painting since I was a child, even though I had no painting experience before.
Transformation
I have never painted anything before I started taking lessons from MJS. I saw a YouTube video showing how to paint trees and landscapes and thought, I think I could do that. Now a year and a half later I’m painting photo realistic paintings one after the other. I can’t believe it’s me creating these beautiful paintings. Thank you Michael

Amazing teacher
Michaels lessons are very easy to follow. I’ve subscribed to many artists in hopes to learn but found they just fell short. Michaels lessons are some of the few I’ve found that actually teach. Techniques are explained throughly as well as his thought process along the way in real time. 10/10 recommend!

Paint brush and lessons
Hi MJS, I just received my paint brushes today and excited to try them. For the lessons they are very useful and the step by step instructions from Michael James Smith are helping me a lot. Thank you so much for what you do.
I got the Procreate app and love working with it.

Solid, Real-World Instruction
Many “instructional” videos leave one thinking, “Great. This looks wonderful. How do I actually execute this brush stroke but brush stroke?” Many leave the last question unanswered, in practical terms.
MJS (pardon the informality), answers many of those questions as he execute the answers. He frequently suggest or comments on variations one might employ for a particular application. This level of detail is imperative to the learning process. It makes practice and the gaining of experience, much more valuable and productive.
