Nice little app

Nice app, does exactly what it advertises. If I could magically make additional features appear, it would be the option to display the raw midi message in their hexadecimal form, and an option to manually construct and send midi messages, both in raw hex form and in a simplified version. Those would help with troubleshooting difficult equipment.

LISTEN UP, IT PLAYS NO SOUND I REPEAT NO SOUND AT ALL!!! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬😡😡😡😡😡😡

It's a bummer that the MIDI wrench had no sound. I tried so hard to get it working, but it just wouldn't cooperate. Seriously, take my advice and skip this nonsense! 💔

Good App

Good app but you can’t import .mid files. Otherwise, it does its job.

Excellent app!

Thank you for making this app, it’s super helpful to have when trying to figure out issues with MIDI!

Brilliant

Needed to check midi ouput on my kawai piano . Flawless

Miracle cure

Just downloaded this app to help me connect Yamaha MdBT01 MIDI device via Bluetooth, a quick click on the MIDI Devices Bluetooth MIDI tab and up it pops, click on connect, job done.

Meanwhile my IPAD is still searching

I find the Bluetooth on iPads always a problem.

All resolved now

Thanks to the team

Essential app for midi instruments

Nothing MIDI would work before I used this app. It’s free, maintained and collects no data - absolutely brilliant.

Hey

Hey there is no audio when pressing the piano keys
Can you please fix it

Great MIDI Tool. Thank you!

Sometimes just opening this tool can resolve MIDI connections. If you use MIDI, you should keep this app handy. Anytime I have MIDI connection problems or I want to know what data is being sent and from where—this is the tool I use. You can stop and restart MIDI message flow and lots more with this tool. If MIDI activity is a mystery to you, this is the tool that reveals what’s going on “under the hood.”

Simple: It Works

It simply does what it’s supposed to do. Not a bunch of junk needed like some other apps.
THANK YOU!

WONDERFUL monitor of MIDI I/O

This app is so fantastic at what it does that I wish it was designed to do just a tad more because then it could really be the MIDI ‘Swiss army knife’ so to speak, not just a “wrench.” If you use your iOS device with any MIDI I/O especially multiple types simultaneously like hardware MIDI I/O via USB or bluetooth/Wi-Fi MIDI, virtual MIDI, various apps simultaneously that use MIDI this app is incredibly valuable because when something isn’t behaving the way you’re expect, getting to see in realtime line-by-line each MIDI command you can quickly figure out what’s actually going on and adjust that to meet goals. There’s a a few knobs (4) which have plenty of versatility in that you can configure them to any MIDI channel or CC desired , its a bit weird to me to see just a bit of that type of functionality - but in a way it makes total sense and I wouldnt’ wish them gone. I was hoping maybe it could work as a MIDI patchbay - it has this one feature which will “echo” all inputs to outputs but it says that’s meant for measuring latency (very cool) but it would only work for MIDI routing in the very specific cases. Great free app.

This app is really is important to have.

I recently bought a new midi keyboard controller to use with Cubasis3 on iPad, but no matter how much I tried I could not the midi learn parameters to work at all, so I launched Midi Wrench to check what was going on and instantly everything started to work as it should without me changing any settings, I can’t believe this incredible app is free!
I am going to rate it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have managed to sort out all kind of Midi problems thanks to Midi Wrench. I would seriously recommend that all midi users have this important Midi monitor, just launch it and leave it running in the back round until you need it. Very important if you want to check what midi data is being transmitted or received.

Great app. Great potential

Is it possible to add options like (1) change the range of keys and (2) set the keys to different scales. It will be nice to control a vst on the desktop from the GarageBand with this app or similar set as an auv3 instrument. I am trying to use an iPad as a midi controller for the vst on a pc using Bluetooth midi. Thanks for creating a great simple app but maybe additional options can be sold as in app purchase.

Solid!

Good tool for the toolbox.

Great free tool!

This is exactly the tool I needed to diagnose the problems I’ve been having getting MIDI data transmitting properly between my iPad Pro and my Windows computer over rtpMIDI. Thanks so much!

it’s an oscilloscope for MIDI, and works.

Autumn 2022 - My modulation wheel was playing up on my Launchkey Mk2 61 MIDI controller keyboard, it was not going right down to zero. Sat at around 6 or 7 or 10 or so. I did the Novation reset method (hit certain keys while powering on) and that made no difference at all. When MIDI wrench was up though, displaying the stream of numbers output on screen of my iPad, I could meddle with the Mod wheel, and watch the numbers…this proved that I COULD get down to zero on the mod wheel, if it was rotated downward but lifting up the middle with a little bit of force. In other words, this is a mechanical limit of movement, not an electronics calibration problem. I know now, I am going to ferret around in the keyboard, and move a stop-screw or something. If the device would recalibrate, it would probably work - but there’s no advice on how that can be done by users.

So, thanks for this utility helping me chase the issue down.

OLDER - still 5 stars, different use is all:
I had a very focused reason and simple question: can I grab MIDI out of GarageBand iOS? Spoiler, no seems the answer. Other apps were claimed to be able to do this, by being Audio Units and so forth, but using MIDIwrench I did tests, and proved not a thing except clock signals and a ‘stop’ comes out of GB iOS. And having the app other people say worked, made no difference. MIDIwrench is set onto an app, and watches it, for MIDI output, and you make the app send MIDI to MIDIwrench, to see if the ‘conduit’ works. In my case, it’s all inside the iPad, so it’s a virtual conduit, but I see others have real cables they check. Thank you Christian.

Must Have

If you use midi on iOS then this is a very handy tool

Wow, what an elegant midi monitor/controller

Everything is quick, lightweight. Looks like 4 midi controller ‘knobs’ which (normally I hate on screens but) each knob graphic expands to full screen & it feels so smooth like butter…

I dunno, if something goes wrong I’ll change my rating but off the bat, this is like “wow what a nice tool” & it’s free?

Thanks so much

As folk have said, it just works!

Yes, it works, and it’s easy. Such a blessing after struggling for ages to connect BlueBoard to Ultimate Guitar.

Thank you so much for this super app!

Hard to play as keys are small

Could not find a way to increase the size of keys. It will be very useful if less but large keys are available with sliding possibility.
