Enjoyable

I love this project as I enjoy the having to be present during your capture time. One thing I do not enjoy is that more than half my pictures are black because I’m asleep. If there could be time zones that are included it would cut down on the blackout “pictures.”

Great concept, bad luck

I’ve had this app for several months now and it’s a great concept in theory. I even had multiple friends download it after the first week and made sure to set my notifications up to never miss an opportunity to snap a picture.
Unfortunately for me, which might just be my bad luck, I only ever got notified when I was on the toilet or in bed lol. Almost every single time. I travel, I explore, I go out in nature, I’m with my friends and yet my whole album after several months was full of pictures of my bedding, tv screen, and bathroom tile.
Again, truly could just be my horrible luck but you only get a certain amount of time to snap the photo and I’m not going to jump out of bed half awake, hit the lights and quickly find something to snap. Or rush my piss to sprint out of the bathroom for a good photo lol
Even more unfortunately, all the pictures I got paired with were the same exact thing. It seems when caught off guard with a few seconds to snap a picture most quickly choose the wall, a cup, the cupboard, the tv and so on. Which can be cool at first until it’s just….nothing really interesting?
It would be really cool if you could decide when to snap a photo, only allowed one photo per day, and then you got paired with someone else who had chose to take a photo around the same time maybe within the hour or so. Keeping the same photo album concept etc. the amount of absolutely beautiful views or fun adventures I experienced and I wished to the universe to get the notification because THIS, this is what I want to remember. This is want I want to pay for later down the line in a 5 year photo album. Not a collection of everytime I was half awake and had to pee.
Again cool concept, just fell short for me. Sorry!

Love this app

I love this app. Aside from being fun, it’s my reminder to just stop and be present in a random moment. I especially love seeing who’ve I matched with - a little bit of human connection over a vast distance.

Used to be great

I used to love this app. but i haven't been able to load the app to take a photo in a WHILE. every time i get the notification and click on it. it crashes the app and doesn't allow me to
game a photo. pretty sad cause i've missed at least 30-40 photos due to this it's been glitched out. i almost want to restart at this point cause almost every photo is black.

How joyful!

I love this app, being so creative to come up with the idea. Ty!!! I love my moments taking pics and then seeing others around the world. Pretty cool stuff! So refreshing

Love the concept

It’s hit and miss on the notices for the photo. Sometimes I get them and others it could be days

Love it.

A lot.

Great Idea

Edited to address the response from the developer:

Updated review 7:29/2026:

I really love the concept of this app, and when everything works, it’s fantastic. Unfortunately, the notification system has been unreliable enough that I can’t depend on it.

To be clear, this is not a phone settings issue. I’ve already verified my notification settings, Time Sensitive Notifications are enabled, Focus and Do Not Disturb are configured correctly, and I’ve restarted my phone. I also worked in tech, so I know how to troubleshoot before assuming something is broken.

Yes, I use Do Not Disturb at night, and I expect notifications to be silenced then. That’s not the problem. The issue happens during normal waking hours when my phone is unlocked, Do Not Disturb is off, and notifications should come through. My phone can be sitting right in front of me, and it won’t make a sound or display a notification. The only time I reliably see a notification is if I’m actively using my phone and happen to catch the banner the instant it appears. Otherwise, I often don’t discover the notification until hours later.

What’s especially frustrating is that the developer response told me to check my phone settings—the very thing I had already explained was not the issue. That makes me wonder whether my review was actually read before responding.

This is a great idea for an app, and I genuinely want it to succeed, but the notification bug needs to be addressed because timely notifications are the entire point of the experience.

Original review: I really love the concept of this app, and when the notifications come through as they should, it’s fantastic. Unfortunately, reliability has been a major issue. A surprising number of notifications never alert me when they’re first sent. I’ve verified that it isn’t my phone or notification settings, and I’ve even tried restarting my device, but the problem persists. Instead of receiving timely alerts, I’ll often discover notifications hours later, which defeats the purpose of having them. It’s a great idea with a lot of potential, but the inconsistent notification delivery makes the app difficult to rely on.

It just gets intrusive and repetitive

Around the world one m at a time

It’s random and easy. I love seeing where in the world I get to see next. Love the concept and the app!

Glimpses of real life

The random notification and rush to capture my current activity at that exact moment adds to the enjoyment of this app. I look forward to the uncurated collection of these simple moments of everyday life. Glimpsing into a strangers life for that brief moment adds to the interest. Great app!

My Favorite

I genuinely enjoy this app….i look forward to it, and when a photo prompt comes my way it fills me with joy. I love the practice of framing imperfect moments beautifully, and I sincerely enjoy viewing what others have chosen to share.

Moments glance

I love grabbing a second of my day with this app. I could be cooking, sewing, riding down the road, shopping. It’s a snippet of my day that I stop and actually think about - I love the notification sound and like seeing what others capture at the same moment as well.

Love it!

This app is so fun!! Keeps me on my toes to compose a good photograph in limited time plus I love to see what someone else is doing at that exact moment.

Awesome experience!

Each of my family has started the four year journey on our individual phones. I love that each day there are yells through the house, each of us notifying the others it's time to take a picture. We give each other a hard time if one of us missed the photo opportunity. We screen shot our photo and put it into the family group chat so that if one of us is away from the others we can see what each is doing. We can't wait to hit the yearly marks to buy our books. We also really enjoy seeing other's around the worlds pictures.

Adoro o minutiae!

Acho instigante observar os instantâneos de pessoas ao redor do mundo. Tenho a versão gratuita mas, mesmo assim, sempre fico feliz quando toca o alarme e chega minha vez de fotografar.

Love The Randomness

I and my friends are enjoying this app and like the glimpse into folks all over the world. One suggestion. I would love it if states and/or provinces were included with the city and country. I never know if I’m matched with someone from Portland, Oregon or Portland, Maine. Not so familiar with lots of Canadian cities, so knowing which provinces cities are in would help further contextualize the image.

Lots of fun

I’ve really enjoyed using Minutia: Real Life. It’s a refreshing change from the typical social media experience because it encourages you to capture authentic, everyday moments instead of chasing the perfect photo. The app is simple, easy to use, and has a unique concept that makes documenting life feel meaningful rather than performative. It’s a great reminder that the small moments often become the most memorable ones. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a more genuine way to preserve memories.

My favorite app

I love the pressure-free expression that this app enables. It’s spontaneous and weirdly meditative to do every day. I can’t wait to get my coffee book in a few years!! 🥰

More time

I understand it’s an art project but I really do wish I could have more time to look at my own pictures without zooming in on the big graph.
