From Never Cooking to Hosting Dinner

I pretty much cook exclusively with MOB now, which is something I never thought I’d say because I genuinely never used to cook. I was becoming really frustrated with eating badly, having no pleasure in meals at home, and relying on food outside that was often too salty or too heavy.
MOB has honestly been a small revolution for me: I now cook each recipe for three or four people and batch it into several meals for the week.
Some ingredients, especially certain oils or spices, can be difficult to find near me, so I sometimes substitute them or even shop elsewhere (which shows a real shift).
But overall, it has completely changed the way I eat: I feel much better, and I now genuinely enjoy eating at home.
The next step is actually inviting people over for dinner..! 😅 and honestly, give me another 3 or 4 recipes and I’ll be there.
Thank you, this is a fantastic app, and the value for money is truly exceptional.

Money grab

Downloaded it cause I saw all the ads on social media was hoping it would help. Asked to create free account did that but as soon as you hit continue you hit a paywall that has no option to continue for free

Sold as healthy meals, only 81 low fat meals

Not as healthy as they claim to be. Recipes are high sugar, high fat and low in vegetables. Good if you eat out every day, not good if you know a bit about nutrition and how to put together a low fat, high protein meal already.

Just signed for the free week

All I can see it a grey screen after I signed in. I have deleted, reinstalled twice … still only a grey screen

Billed for the year as soon I signed up for the 7 day trial - Edit: (getting refunded)

Don’t sign up with this app unless you’re happy to have your bank account dipped into without your consent. Signed up for a 7 day trial and they instantly billed me. Nothing at checkout to say I was being billed, no email or communication to advise they had taken money from me or even to confirm my account was set up. Just dipped into my account. I went on the website to cancel today as it doesn’t suit me and realised what they have done. I’m waiting to hear from customer service before I dispute it with my credit card. So disgusted that they con people like this.

Edit: I have spoken with customer service who have advised I will be getting a refund.

Useless

Recipes are mediocre and other functionality isn’t helpful. Don’t waste your money.

Response from developer

Hi there, thanks for leaving a review. Sorry to hear this! Our free trial is only available to customers who have not had one with us before - if you've already had a trial then you'll be charged straight away and this is communicated at checkout and in our terms. If this doesn't sound right please reach out to us at help@mob.co.uk so we can take a look into this for you. Sam

Way too expensive

13$ a month lol who pays for that ?

AI slop

The recipes seem good but the shopping list it generates for you is incomprehensible ai nonsense

Nul !

3 fois que j’installe l’appli pour tester, je règle tout les paramètres. Et finalement :

Apologies! We seemed to have encountered an issue.
Please restart the app

Hi there, thanks for leaving a review. This definitely doesn't sound right - sorry for the frustration. Please reach out to us at help@mob.co.uk so we can investigate further. Sam

Basic common issues that could be easily fixed

I am not the only one to say this but these recipes, while good, have never been put through a rigorous or even basic proofreading. They often miss key instructions, the ingredient list item includes unusual or hard to find items (at least in the US). Ingredients are often listed in metric so US users will have to convert. If you are going to subscribe, I highly recommend trying it for one month before paying for anything longer.

Can’t even see a recipe without subscribing

Can’t even see a recipe without paying. If I am gonna pay for every other little app I am gonna get broke real soon. Will stick to YouTube videos and use AI to get the recipe + ingredients.

Not as advertised

Ads suggest good app for prep
and batch cooking but doesn’t organise or give you a plan or anything. Basically just a bank of recipes and collates all the ingredients in a list. I guess the list part is good?

App does not open

I have downloaded this several times. App does bot open

Limited choice

Pictures look great but you can’t state food items not to include and there no ‘view all’

I want to love it..

The UX is great. Look, feel, etc great! The recipes also, great! But the generated Ingredients lists never seemed to match the Method. I made the “honey garlic chicken” for two people, followed the directions to a T. Ended up with spicy lime chicken instead. Then I noticed several recipes with inconsistent lists. So I’m cancelling - for now… I’d love to come back when it’s more consistent.

Fuming

Don’t make me do a whole questionnaire just to tell me I have to pay for the app at the end like

Misleading Trial, Inaccurate Macros and worst of all - AI customer service

Unfortunately, it’s clear that the team at Mob is focused on marketing over improving the customer experience or listening to any legitimate critique.

Reading the reviews, both here and on Trustpilot, it is clear that their business model relies heavily on customers signing up for the 7-day free trial and either forgetting to unsubscribe or not being able to due to the awful interface.

I signed up for the trial on 21/06 and was charged a full, non-refundable annual fee on 26/06. Mob has full visibility on this and refuses to refund me. I have been stuck speaking to Charlie over email, who has repeatedly thanked me for my “feedback” without offering any solutions or support (I am pretty sure this is an AI agent so consider that before you sign up. If this is an actual human, they need more training or perhaps a career shift)

Worst of all, as I pointed out to Charlie, the app is simply unfit for purpose. Mob markets itself around macro tracking and easing meal prep, but the ingredient lists are often inaccurate. Multiple recipes tell you to add major ingredients at the end (like ricotta and parmesan) that are completely missing from the main ingredient list. You can’t trust the macros, which completely negates their main selling point. This is something that multiple reviewers have pointed out and no action has been taken to fix it, so I would hesitate to trust anything on this app.

It is clear their product is a failure and the only way Mob can continue paying for their TikTok and Instagram ads is by tricking people into signing up to the annual subscription (a whopping £35 for AI slop recipes that you can find anywhere for free). Save your money and the headache. The recipes are not worth it - you can do better with 20 mins on the internet and a notepad for your shopping list.

Needs videos for recipes

I, like most people I’m sure, found mob through social media.
It’s packed full of loads of great recipes.
Unfortunately, there doesn’t currently seem to any feature to have videos of the recipes being cooked available. As a visual learner, my favourite way to cook is by watching others.
Given so many of the recipes have videos on social media, please consider this feature.

Careful when doing trial

I must’ve signed up for the free trial before but I downloaded the app and went to try the free trial, it said the whole way through 7 day free trial so didn’t think anything of it when it asked for card details, it immediately charged me, requested a refund with apple but it won’t allow it. The wording needs to be so much clearer, it still says 7 day free trial on the charge that I received
