Love it!

I love this app! I have a lot of books to add, so when I’m done, it will help me in so many ways!!

Almost perfect

I would love to have a way to get rid of the typed words down the edge of the spine and just show the spine.

Best shelf customization so far

I’ve been looking for a book tracker that allowed me to create a custom shelf with real spines. I love that this one is totally free and not full of micro transactions to customize your shelf. It is kind of glitchy though. When I have chosen an alternate cover for a book, it keeps reverting to the original default cover when viewing it on my shelf. No matter how many times I change it, it keeps reverting. On the archive page, for some reason only some of my ratings show up, even though I have rated all of my finished books. For some features: I wish there was a custom semi-transparent library background behind the books on the shelves. It difficult to see my book covers with such a busy background. I also wish I could upload my own image for my library background. I also wish I could choose for my “shelves” tab to be the default I see when I open the app. More than anything, I wish there was a widget. This is the best custom-shelf app I have tried so far, but I really want to display my completed book shelf on my phone Home Screen. I do see that it seems to be a small developer, so I appreciate the app and that it is free.

This might be my favorite review yet, thank you for taking the time to write it all out. 💛 First, good news on the cover bug: an alternate cover reverting to the default was a real issue, and it's fixed in the update that just went live. Please update and it should finally stick. The archive ratings not all showing is new to me, so I'm going to dig into that one this week. Your wish list is wonderful, and honestly a lot of it is already on mine: • A semi-transparent shelf background so your covers are easier to see (and uploading your own image): yes, I want this. • Setting Shelves as your default tab when you open the app: adding that to the list. • A Home Screen widget of your finished shelf: this is the dream, and the thing I most want to build next. You're right that I'm a tiny one-person shop, so thoughtful reviews like this genuinely help me decide what to build first. Thank you for giving MOBS a shot. If more ideas strike you, there's now an "Ask a question" button right in the app (tap your account), and it comes straight to me. 📖 - Megan

Crash

Amazing idea and I would love to use this however the app crashed multiple times and it didn’t save I also would swipe out to pause and do something however it did the same thing. Multiple times I lost hours of progress because of this. Thats really my only complaint other than that the idea and execution of the rest of the app is great.

Oh, losing hours of your progress is genuinely the worst, and I'm so sorry that happened. Thank you for being so kind about the rest of the app while flagging something that really mattered. 💛 Here's the good news: you found a real bug, and it's fixed. The update that just went live includes a critical fix so a background sync can no longer overwrite what you'd just added (that was the culprit behind your work vanishing when you swiped away and came back), plus reliability improvements across the board. Your edits are saved and protected now. Please update to the latest version and give it another try. I truly don't want you to lose another minute of shelving. And if anything ever feels off again, there's now an "Ask a question / Report a bug" button right inside the app (tap your account), and it comes straight to me. Thank you for sticking with the idea. It means the world. - Megan

Love it

Everything is actually free and you don’t have to pay crazy amounts to decorate your own shelf. You can easily customize your book shelf’s, your books cover, book spine and the background.

You have the ability to scan your books you have to add to shelf and if wanted you can use your own picture of the book and spine to customize. You can add the books to series to easily sort through. If you don’t have a book for said series you can add the missing book to “hunt” aka the books you still need to buy.

You also have the choice to have several different libraries as well, which I love. I get too have my physical library and my kindle library separated.

Of course as most book apps you get to track what you read and the dates you read them as well as the rating you would give.

I would like to say it would be nice they give you an option to add personal notes to the book you’ve read. I’ve also noticed a couple of time now while adding books and pictures my screen will zoom in and no way of correcting the issue other than exiting the app and restarting.

Sorry this was a bit long but this app is definitely worth!!!

Thank you so much for this. I read every word, twice. 💛 You clearly explored every corner (separate physical and Kindle libraries, Hunt, your own spine photos, yes!), and it means the world that the "genuinely free, no paywall" part landed the way I hoped. -And the one thing you wished for, personal notes on your books? It's live now. Update to the latest version and you'll find the new Reader's Journal: dated notes and favorite quotes for every book, and you can even snap a photo of a page and it pulls the text in. You asked, and it's there. 📖 -I also caught that zoom glitch you hit while adding books and photos. A fix is on the way in an upcoming update. Thank you for flagging it so clearly. - Megan

So far so good

It’s pretty cool and super easy to use. Love the way the shelves and libraries look and how easy it is to organize.

I do have a few suggestions and 1 bug fix. Sorry if this gets long. Wasn’t sure where else to note these.

Problem with selecting book covers. I select the right one but then a few minutes later it changes back to wrong cover. I finally got it fixed by adding a screen shot pic as my cover. It doesn’t happen on all books though.

I found that all the library backgrounds all have to be the same. Would be awesome to be able to select different backgrounds for different libraries.

When adding a book to multiple libraries, it’d be nice if the copied over with all the same selections. I found that I have to go in a re-rate them and select if read or is a TBR and what format the book is (hardcover or paperback etc)

When adding a book manually, is there a way to add a synopsis?

It’d be nice to have a notes area below the “stars” rating for each book just in case I want to remember something

Finally, it’d be helpful to have button choices where you can select if you “own” the book, have “pre-ordered” (because I forget) the book or if it’s a wishlist book.

Thank you for such thoughtful feedback. Honestly the long ones are my favorite, because they help me build the right things. 💛 -The notes area you wished for below the rating? It's live now. Update to the latest and you'll find the new Reader's Journal: notes and quotes for every book, with page numbers and even photo-to-text. You asked, and it's there. Click on your "Archive" and there will be new tabs to explore!📖 -A couple you might already have: the Hunt tab tracks books you're chasing (including pre-orders and future releases) and TBR marks what's next, which covers a lot of your "own vs. pre-ordered vs. wishlist" idea. Your others (different backgrounds per library, carrying your format and read selections across libraries, and a synopsis on manual entries) are all on my list. And that cover-that-reverts bug? I found it, and a fix is coming in an upcoming update (thanks for the screenshot workaround, a great clue). - Really grateful you took the time. -Megan
