Too many things to list
I have really been trying to give this app the benefit of the doubt. The first time I saw something about it, it was for language learning/exchange. Which I thought was perfect, as I very much wanted to learn Korean in anticipation of moving there for work. The prospect of meeting people to help facilitate learning the language and possibly making a friend or two made me hopeful. I make sure that I specify “Language”, but am inundated with friend requests for dating or flirting. Or dating flirting requests from woman, which I am definitely not interested in. Or learning a language other than what I have specified. And the ones that I do accept, eventually make a mistake and show that they are fakes and scammers. Even the “verified” ones. I report every single one that wants to date or flirt. A fake/scammer didn’t read what I wrote. I spoke on the phone (through an app, I don’t give out my real number) to one who said he was in Chicago, a few hours from me. Claimed he was adopted in Korea at 3 by an American and brought to the US. Got mad when I called him out on his BS and told him he lied about being Korean. Based on his accent, which he would not have living here for 40 years, he sounded like he was from somewhere in Africa. I keep getting friend requests from others with the same pictures he used. Oh, and the requests from different people with the same pictures. Or getting another request from someone that I reported. They just create another account. The few that I have accepted and talked to I get a notification that their profile was reported and banned. So many of my chats say “banned” instead of names, now. Or, I accept their request, then they remove themselves. If I could give it negative stars, I would. I couldn’t continue without clicking at least one star. I don’t feel like this deserved. I love the idea of making friends from different parts of the world, but only if they are real. I would love to be able to learn and practice a new language and have some friends there when I make my move would be great. But, at this rate, with this app, it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen.

pinkkawigirl, thank you for taking the time to write all of this - reading it genuinely mattered to us. You came to Moji for a real reason: to learn Korean before your move for work, to practice, and to make genuine friends there. That's exactly who Moji is for. A quick note on the friend requests: when you set your goal to "Language," that does shape who we show you and who we surface you to. But like on language-exchange and social apps everywhere, anyone can still send you a friend request even if their own goal is different - and you're always free to decline or report them. That part works the way it's meant to, so please don't feel you're doing anything wrong by turning those people down. Where we do owe you better is the fakes and scammers - that shouldn't be your job to filter. When you report someone, our team checks it and removes them for good, which is why you're seeing "banned" in your chats. You're right that some come back with the same photos under a new account, and we're building stronger checks to stop those repeat sign-ups before they ever reach you. Detailed reports like yours are exactly what make that possible, and we're sorry you've had to wade through so many. If you email us at support@moji.cool, we'll look at your account and the profiles you've reported directly. And when you make your move, we truly want Moji to be where you find real people to practice with and real friends. Please don't give up on that yet - give us the chance to show you a cleaner Moji, and if we earn it, we'd be honored to have you change that one star. Thank you for caring enough to tell us the truth.

Banned my new phone
Response from developer
Hi Leehyunsung, we understand the confusion - here's what usually happens in cases like this: the block is almost never on the new phone itself, but on the account. If your previous account was suspended or blocked, logging in with that same account on the new phone carries the block over. Was your account ever suspended before? Please email support@moji.cool with your UUID and a screenshot of the block screen - we'll check the history right away, and if we got it wrong we'll restore access. Really appreciate the 4 stars despite this, and we'd love the chance to earn the fifth once we sort it out together.
I want filters for gay men and gay people too. It seems that most people on there seems straight
I love using Moji to meet global friends and practice languages. I'm gay and I'd love a way to find other gay friends who share the same experience. Right now it's hard to find LGBTQ+ community.
Could you consider adding:
1. An optional sexual orientation filter / tag (gay, bi, etc.)
2. An LGBTQ+ community or interest tag so people can opt-in to be found
It would help a lot of us feel safer and make more authentic friendships, and it's opt-in so people who don't want to share don't have to.
Thanks for building a free app for real connections!
Response from developer
Thank you so much for this thoughtful feedback! 💙 Building a space where everyone feels safe and can find authentic connections is exactly what we care about, and your opt-in suggestion is genuinely smart. We're sharing this with our team right away. Feedback like yours is what makes Moji better for everyone. Hoping to earn back those missing stars as we grow!
I would not recommend this app
This app is not what I thought it would be and I don’t even know how it’s not rated lower.

Hi NixLola! We're sorry about your experience - your detailed feedback really helps us. Celebrity/influencer photos and immediate WeChat/WhatsApp requests are classic scam signs, and we're strengthening detection every day. Please report these profiles in-app so we can act. About re-friend requests - just unfriending still allows the other person to send a new request. To stop that completely, please use the block feature instead. If issues continue even after blocking, let us know. We'd love to earn back your trust and those 4 missing stars!
