I would not recommend this app

From my understanding, this app is used for language exchange, dating, making friends across the world… Which is great and all but why is almost every profile I come across fake. I’m not sure how they pass the authentication process, but I have yet to come across a real profile. All the profiles that send me friend requests use pictures of celebrities or influencers. And when I don’t immediately recognize them and accept their friend request, they instantly ask for your WeChat or WhatsApp. Another issue I find is whenever I unfriend someone, maybe a few days to two weeks later I get a notification that they want to be my friend again.

This app is not what I thought it would be and I don’t even know how it’s not rated lower.

Celebrity/influencer photos and immediate WeChat/WhatsApp requests are classic scam signs, and we're strengthening detection every day. Please report these profiles in-app so we can act. About re-friend requests - just unfriending still allows the other person to send a new request. To stop that completely, please use the block feature instead. If issues continue even after blocking, let us know. We'd love to earn back your trust and those 4 missing stars!

This app is full of bots and perverted bots. Don’t even waste your time here. Also, they have banned me for no reason

Too many scammers and perverts

There is a huge amount of scammers on this app, and even with the apps prevention software, half of them are verified accounts. I have never had this much trouble with scammers on an app before. Unfortunately, the amount of scammers and perverts on the app has made me want to delete it. Sad because it seems like it would be a decent app if not for all the issues with it. I’ll stick to Langmate since I’ve continued to meet some incredible people there.
