About
MoodLoop is a private mood journal for daily check-ins, reflection, and patterns you can understand over time. Record one mood per day, add the context that matters, then view clear statistics calculated on your device.
PRIVACY IS THE FOUNDATION
• Offline — write entries, browse your journal, and view insights without internet
• No Login — no account, email, password, profile, or social sign-in is required
• Privacy First — your personal reflections remain under your control
• On Device — storage, charts, summaries, and habit analysis run on your iPhone
• No Cloud Upload — MoodLoop does not automatically send moods, notes, photos, or activities to cloud servers
MoodLoop uses a local SwiftData store rather than CloudKit. No remote service needs your journal to generate insights, and the app does not sell your data. A photo you choose becomes part of the local entry; MoodLoop does not upload it.
A LIGHT DAILY CHECK-IN
Choose how today feels on a five-level mood scale. Add a note when words help, or leave it blank when a simple check-in is enough. Each calendar day has one entry, so you can return to edit a date without creating duplicates.
Add tags for sleep, family, friends, exercise, reading, food, work, study, and more. Create your own tags or archive unused ones while keeping old entries intact. Optional 1-to-5 ratings capture sleep, stress, and energy. Attach one photo when it helps preserve the moment.
SEE TODAY IN CONTEXT
The Today screen brings together today’s mood, your streak, a seven-day mood health score, weekly change, and a recent trend. Frequently used activities become quick actions. With enough history, MoodLoop can surface an observation based on the strongest positive habit or negative trigger.
CALENDAR, JOURNAL, AND TRENDS
Use the calendar to see a month at a glance. Select a date to see its activities, ratings, note, and photo. The journal timeline keeps entries ready for review or editing.
Switch between 7-day and 30-day charts. Review your average, logged days, best and lowest days, and the distribution of each mood level. Everything is calculated from entries already on your iPhone, so charts continue to work offline.
PERSONAL INSIGHTS, EXPLAINED
Insights compare days when an activity was present with days when it was absent. After a tag has at least five days of observations, MoodLoop can show habits associated with higher moods, factors linked with lower moods, and weekdays that tend to feel best or hardest. It reports relationships in your journal, not proof that an activity caused a feeling. Suggestions are local calculations—not remote AI and not a diagnosis.
WEEKLY AND YEARLY PERSPECTIVE
Weekly summaries collect your average, best and lowest day, habits, difficult factors, and a takeaway. Browse up to twelve weeks. Year in Pixels turns a year into a colored grid with an annual average.
Achievements recognize your first discovered pattern, 7-, 30-, and 100-day streaks, and 365 recorded days. They are gentle markers of consistency, not a competition.
LOCK YOUR JOURNAL
Add a PIN, enable Face ID or Touch ID when available, or use both. The PIN is protected in the iOS Keychain, and MoodLoop locks again when it enters the background. These controls are optional.
MoodLoop supports personal reflection, habit awareness, and everyday wellbeing. It is not a medical device, does not diagnose mental-health conditions, and does not replace qualified care. If you are in distress or worried about your safety, contact local emergency services or a trusted healthcare professional.
