About

Morituri te salutant. Those about to die salute you. You begin as a slave owned by Gaius Varro, a lanista who takes every coin you win on the sand. Fight, scheme, trade and love your way out of his ludus, across the sea to Egypt, and back to Rome with enough gold to take everything he owns. Morituri is a hand-drawn role-playing game set in the first century BC, with a story in three acts and a living city to walk between the fights. FIGHT IN THE COLOSSEUM - Real-time, side-on combat with light strikes, heavy blows, blocks, parries and dodges - Five fighting styles: Secutor, Murmillo, Retiarius, Thraex and Dimachaerus - Every champion has a signature move. Watch for the red glow, then dodge or bleed - Win the crowd. If they love you, they spare you when you fall. Lose them three times and the Emperor turns his thumb - Kill a beaten man for fame, or spare him and earn an ally who may fight beside you - Climb the arena ladder from the morning card to the championship against Tigris the Unbeaten - Face wolves, boars and a tiger in the venatio, and two-on-one bouts for a double purse A STORY IN THREE ACTS - Act I, Rome: a slave in Varro's ludus, with fixed fights, a strongbox robbery, letters that should never have been seen, and a betrayal - Act II, Egypt: shipwrecked on a hostile coast, jailed, then sent up the Nile by the general who threatens the survivors. Serve a Pharaoh and lead her army in a civil war - Act III, Rome again: come home rich under a dead man's name and settle with Varro WALK THE STREETS OF ROME - An open city to explore on foot, on horseback or in your own coach: the Forum, the Subura, the Macellum, the Palatine, Trastevere and the Via Appia - A day and night cycle with a sundial on your screen. Shops close, lamps come on, the watch walks the streets - Dozens of characters with their own stories, from Old Felix the retired retiarius to Rebekah the jeweler who asks no questions BUILD A FORTUNE - Invest with Old Felix in grain from Sicily and ships to Alexandria. Some of it sinks - Buy flats in the Subura and rent them out, run market stalls, hire workers, trade goods between farm and city - Bet on three chariot races a day at the Circus Maximus across six factions, take tips from strangers, and later race horses of your own LOVE, FRIENDS AND RIVALS - Court Nefer the Egyptian herbalist, a singer, a merchant's daughter or a senator's niece. Each wants different gifts and different talk - Marry and make a home. Each wife brings her own gifts, from healing your wounds to spreading your name - Friends remember you. Neglect them and they drift away RISE THROUGH ROME - Go from slave to freedman, citizen, equestrian, magistrate, consul and, if you dare, Emperor - Fame, influence and charm open doors that money cannot - Choices carry weight: what you steal, whom you spare and whom you betray all come back to you MADE FOR IPHONE AND IPAD - Native, hand-painted art that runs smoothly on both - Touch controls built for the arena and the street, and keyboard support on iPad - Plays fully offline, with automatic saving - No ads, no accounts, no tracking The crowd is waiting. Make them chant your name. Morituri contains combat, crime and mature themes set in ancient Rome.
