Good video app to use while monitoring sound recording.
Updated review: looks like the new update on May 22, 2026, has fixed the bug, and the mic gain monitor is working.
Original review: Purchased MV88 and the mic gain monitor works fine on MOTIV Audio and you can see the meter of the mic gain fine. Unfortunately the meter doesn’t work for the video app. Even when unplugged the mic and using the build-in mic on the iPhone, you can still see the green meter register sounds on the Audio app, but nothing on the Video at all. So it isn’t the connectivity issue.

Firmware update V Poor
Unfortunately your firmware update has made it very difficult to update on iPhone as I don’t have USB-C on computer - I urgently need to record - so I’ve ditched Shure for a Zoom - very disappointing, you have shot yourselves in the foot.

Fantastic Audio Quality
I use this when I get a quick song idea or to post a recording on socials. I’ll usually drop the audio in my DAW and add a little reverb and compression. But for a source audio, this is high end condenser style quality. It’s 1000x better than what your phone mic can do.
Could use improvements
It would be nice if the volume level could be boosted for playback. And also if more effects were offered, such as reverb.
The options available are nice, the recording quality is good, but they could offer more options in my opinion.

Mic is not working whith my Iphone 17 promax
Love this mic it works perfectly whith my iphone 15 pro just purchased iphone 17 promax. Mic is not recording in stereo mode just one of the mic level is working can you help ?

撮影する時は60fpsで撮影してても後に見返すと20fpsで撮影されてる事がよくある(iPhone SE)、容量の問題かなと思って確認したが特に容量がカツカツになったいるという訳ではなかった、でもマイクは綺麗に撮れててそこはとても良かったです。

Fabulous for Flute
This is the best app with the Shure MV88+ microphone for recording my flute students. So clean, so clear! Regular phones sound like French fried flute.

Been have audio vision sync issues
I have been using the app for a year. Been recently been having audio/video sync issues. I recorded a video that the audio was 6 mins off from video. I have had problems saving where it says the video is one length but when saved it is different. Found a work around by saving to camera roll. The audio sync issues van not be fixed because the problem is on the app.

Incredibly Good With Shure MOTIV MV-88+ Mic
This software is an all-in one recording package when paired with the Shure MV-88+ mic.
For beginners, it has simple presets. For those who want to tweak settings, it has mic pattern, gain, limiter, eq, and compression.
It works consistently and without issue. However, you DO need to practice with it. It is simple to use, but there are so many options that it helps to test at home before the event. (Remember to put your phone on Do Not Disturb and Airplane Mode!)
This software and mic reward recording knowledge. While you can get by with a preset, understanding the basics of live audio recording will be a welcome investment with surprisingly large returns in such a little package.
I’ve been a recording enthusiast for 30 years and remember when the features on this app would have been six separate 19” racks.
I use this gear to record live bands and orchestras (volunteer, not paid). I have not used it with other Shure mics other than MV-88+.
I did buy the MV-88+ kit with Pixi tripod and phone clamp/mic holder. It is a brilliant package. I also purchased the fuzzy mic cover for wind protection. Note that if you use the fuzzy wind cover and wide angle lens, you should invert the phone so the wind cover and camera are as far apart as possible to avoid picking it up in-frame.

Ok, but caveats.
Ok if you are a full auto guy (on the video side).
My biggest complaint though is that it is Rec.709 rather than 10 bit high dynamic range (like the stock iPhone camera app. Thus, video looks quite washed out and dull. The Audig has this same problem by the way.
Video shows sideways on iPad. That is annoying.

ERROR AL MOMENTO DE GRABAR
NO PUEDO GRABAR POR FAVOR SU APOYO CON UNA ACTUALIZACIÓN PARA IPHONE ME MARCA ERROR 5 (NO SE PUEDEN GUARDAR LOS VIDEOS) desde que presiono grabar me aparece el error por lo tanto no me permite grabar con mi súper micrófono, tengo 5 años utilizando la App, ahora estoy muy triste porque no he podido grabar para mi canal de youtube: KARY GABRIELLE TAROT.

Actualizar por favor URGENTE
Con el nuevo IOS 26 en iPhone, la app no permite grabar iniciar grabación (con micrófono shure conectado). Inmediatamente aparece mensaje: “Error de guardado….error de movifilerecorder…Error 5”. Esto no sucedía con iOS 18.
