Works well, but needs polishing
Terrible app honestly
Pros: really easy to connect mini-splits without the need to connect to unit’s WiFi (finally!).
Cons:
• App doesn’t care to check if unit is turned on or off by remote!
So if you turned it on in the app and then turned off with remote - unit would be displayed as “forever on” in the app, or if you turn it on with remote it would say Off all the time, and never even care to send a simple call to unit’s api. Beyond ridiculous.
• With remote you can first select the mode and then turn on the unit (which is how it should be). In the app you HAVE to turn it on first and only then it would allow you to change it. Ridiculous.
• I have five zones. Four units I was able to easily switch to Celsius. But not the fifth unit. For that last unit the setting is just missing in the app. I can switch it with remote, but if I use the app - it will switch it back. Looks like someone just forgot to click a button in the configuration.
• Overall lack of decimal degree setting everywhere.
A common practice is to have x.5 C degree adjustments, but not here of course. Only full degree changes which is kinda ok with Fahrenheit, but way too coarse for Celsius.
And what’s funny is that both the remote and unit displays have that decimal section, but it’s just not used because of some weird laziness I guess.
One degree Fahrenheit is roughly half a Celsius degree, so nothing stops it to be there.
• App randomly shows temperatures of the units at 2,5 times lower than it actually is. It’s random, but always around 2,5 times.
• Usage statistics is not only useless, but also very inaccurate. It can easily tell you that you didn’t use at all ac, when it actually worked all day.
• No energy consumption monitoring at all. Seriously?
My wonderful lg window ac not only shows me how much it consumes at the moment, but also day/week/month statistics, and even how much it cost me to run it.
• And lastly: you can’t reset your password! Emails never arrive. How, just how can you not care so much?!
Overall the application looks like it was made by someone who never actually tried to use it and didn’t care about it.
An “Outsource” feel as much as it can be.
Being a software engineer myself I just can’t comprehend how someone cannot care so much about what they make.
