Bad UI and not useful offline
I paid for this assuming it would help with supposedly poor or non-existent reception at Chichen Itza. The app has many failings, including typos and not allowing the user to jump between the map and the commentary. Every time you jump to the map, the commentary restarts from the beginning. The guide should show you the best route, but the map is only effective when you’re connected to apple or google maps. Even though I had offline maps for google, the route only shows up when only line. Offline is useless. The information itself is interesting but given what is available for free online, it’s not worth a measly 99cents. The fact that the best reviews are old and that it’s not been updated in four years should be red flags that I stupidly ignored. Plus one star because the audio did work despite others’ reviews.

I should’ve assumed that the audio wouldn’t work as it hadn’t been updated for so long but I wanted to give it a try and I was thoroughly disappointed that the apps audio doesn’t work at all so it’s a wasted dollar.

Die App ist grauenhaft programmiert, man kann sie nicht mal minimieren oder den Bildschirm ausschalten, ohne dass der Guide stoppt. Es gibt 16 Stops, die interessant und nett präsentiert werden, das war’s. Ein paar Sachen werden gar nicht abgedeckt. Man starrt die ganze Zeit aufs Handy um die stops zu finden, es gibt keinerlei Komfortfunktionen. Man muss sich auch zwischen Karte und Sprachausgabe entscheiden.
Ein echter Guide wäre sehr sehr viel besser, würde viel mehr erzählen und einem die Spots zeigen, ohne dass man aufs Handy starren muss um den weg zu finden. Die App ist nicht geeinigt, einen Guide zu ersetzen. Man muss schon sehr arm sein, um verzweifelt genug zu sein, diese App zu nutzen. 1€ ist sie knapp maximal wert.

Excellent guide!
I would recommend anyone who is planning to visit chichen itza to download this guide! It is super easy to follow, gives great insights and saves you the hustle of finding a guide on-site which is very stressful due to the amount of guides trying to sell their tours.
Good app, great potential
This app is pretty good, but has a few annoying things:
- The audio can only be played when the app is open. There’s no autoplay from section to section.
- The audio for 12 “high priest grave” does not exist in Spanish. The audio for 11 is played twice instead.
- Some audios have reproduction errors, like 15 in Spanish.
- The transition from 11 to 12 lacks better guidance, it just says “follow the crowds”, at least in the Spanish version.
- It also has few typos, like “obserbatory”
Other than that, the audioguide was enjoyable and easy to follow. Thanks and keep up the good work!

Excellent audio guide
My girlfriend and I used the Chichen Itza audio guide today and it was great. Well paced, good information and covered everything. Rather that spending £25 each on a tour guide, we spent 99p and could take our time. Thanks!
Audio doesn’t function on iPhone 8
Choose a different app if you have a newer iPhone. This one hasn’t been updated in 2 years.

Tried it on my iPhone XS, no audio played at all so the app was basically useless

Really worthwhile, interesting and informative
Definitely worthwhile if you are not planning to hire a local guide to show you round. The audio tour gives you lots of background on what you’re looking at and is pleasant company.
For the developers: Useful updates would be an arrow on the GPS position indicator on the maps page to indicate which way the phone is facing (just like google maps) as I got lost a few times. Also handy would be the ability to take photos within the app without losing the audio background.

I downloaded this app instead of ordering a real guide and I am really happy!
It saved us as a family a lot of money and we know now all the most important stuff. It was so good not to Walk just threw!
The only difference to the guides: I heared them talking more about the ornaments, but thats not so interesting.

It will enhance your trip to Chichén Itzá a hundred times
My daughters (ages 6 and 9) and I listened to the stories and background and folklore as the narrator guided us around Chichén Itzá. It was a fantastic trip. I would encourage visitors to buy this app.

Absolutely amazing!
This is by far the most resourceful and accessible audio guiding app I've used! The map indicates your location parallel to the perspective sites. Through that you can simply click the sites you are visiting and listen to the introduction while walking! Highly recommended!
The best app for my vacation
This app help my to travel and find all of the Mayan archeological sites with a very professional explanation and accuracy to all sites, also help me to plan ahead get organized and save time, if you want to enjoy your vacation this app will definitely make it easer & more interesting.

Cool but needs some work
Downloaded this app instead of paying for a $70usd tour guide. Info was cool, but the directions were a bit hard to follow. Some of the bigger stops were completely left out. Some info was outdated and included suggestions of routes that are no longer available to tourists. Overall, helpful but needs an update.
