Unreliable

Do NOT rely on this to save your life, or even warn you of potential danger. The sheer lack of notices should be criminal for an app that claims to alert you to potential danger.

Took HOURS to get emergency notifications regarding the tsunami in Hawai’i. After the trama of the wild fires I have this app to provide me up-to-the-minute emergency updates. NOT to not get any notifications and when I do open the app it’s unable to even load my location.

Does not work

Even during a wildland fire where we were evacuated and a later tsunami advisory, there were absolutely no alerts. Do not rely upon this app.

Phantom Notifications

Notifications come on and they never go away. It is so annoying. Sometimes you get a notification, open the app only to be greeted by a spinning icon without anything loaded. Completely useless.

What’s this fraud notification?

I just got a notification from myAlerts talking about a potential “fraud” transaction that posted to my <enter bank name> and to call a number to block transaction. First, I had to remind myself what this app was since I don’t recall proving any app with access to any of my bank accounts. When I realized this app normally provided me with weather alerts, it became clear that (a) they’ve been hacked or (b) they’ve start committing fraudulent messages and notification to scam users. Either way, this is app a “quickly uninstall this app as fast as possible” to avoid being scammed in the future. USER BEWARE!

Unreliable

We were under tornado watch and severe weather alert due to damaging winds/hail. The app was blank. No alerts no data. Nothing. Do not rely on this.

Customized settings don’t work

I only signed up for a few specific types of alerts (fire related and hurricanes, or tropical storms) and I get extremely frequent “high surf advisories” (including waking me up 30 mins before I planned to wake). I looked this morning and my settings were NOT checked to include those but I was woken again too early by a warning that I have Zero need or desire for. Super annoying. I have to risk no fire alerts to not be plagued by unwanted noise and adrenaline surges.

No Alerts!!!

Recent paddock fire in Idaho snd zero alerts even got evacuation zone. The only alerts that came through or the national weather service.

I put in for specific addresses in various locations in town as well as every ZIP Code in the county and adjacent counties and still nothing.

After realizing it could either be the county not using it or the app I put in more towns more addresses more counties and in different states trying to get something in the path of a large uncontrolled fire. Still nothing nothing although without knowing the geography, looking at a fire map and guessing where there might be alerts as far from accurate.

The bottom line is in Gem County Idaho it was an epic fail that could have resulted in loss of life, livestock or property.

No sound notification

There is no sound notification during tornado warnings . Tried the test and again no sound. I have checked to make sure all setting are correct and they are. Please fix! It’s tornado season here and a sound is needed if one shows up while people are sleeping.

Not getting alerts

I set notifications to my area, which I know is under a tornado watch right now, and it’s not showing that. There’s no local alerts anywhere.

Expired Alerts Issue Seems to Be Resolved

November 09, 2023 Yesterday I received notification that the old alerts issue has a solution (on the Alerts tab, tap the icon that looks like a circle around an ellipsis & tap “Hide Expired Alerts”.) March 23, 2023 Since posting the review below, I have found another way to clear old (& no longer useful) alerts, remove then add the location covered by the alerts. This is slightly faster than deleting, downloading & reconfiguring the app. January 28th, 2023 I am giving a one star because it appears the developer is not interested in fixing this problem as I see people have been pointing it out for several years. There should be a means (e. g. swipe left or an Edit function that people could select alerts to remove.) What value is there in in keeping alerts that have have expired long ago still in the list? The only way I could find to remove the old alerts is to delete this app (which removes all data associated with the app), install it again & reconfigure the app. This sounds like the horrible things I hear about PCs!

No alerts and fire is close to my house

The link you sent me to write a support ticket to you it’s crap. That company has nothing to do with your support inquiries.

I filled in the form as requested. IDK why MEMA is not testing these text alerts when they do the siren test on the first of every month. A test for this alert system at the same time should be mandatory. WEA texts should be tested as well.

I am on Maui and I signed up for this alert system on Wednesday after Lahaina burnt down, for all of the major areas on the island, and I have received zero alerts. ZERO. Even though there have continued to be fires. I know for a fact, one of the towns, Kaanapali, is being evacuated RIGHT NOW. And I have not received any alert. IDK what the point of this system is if there are no alerts being issued

Response from developer

Hello ritarama723, thank you for updating your review to let us know you submitted a support ticket with us, but I am sorry that the experience of submitting that ticket was frustrating. The MyAlerts app is indeed published by the company named Konexus, so I'm not sure why you said "that company has nothing to do with your support inquiries." We appreciate the opportunity for you to let us further investigate your not receiving an alert, as that is unexpected behavior. With help from feedback like yours, we look forward to improving the total user experience. Thank you for your time and assistance.

Not working

The app hasn’t been working for a few days. Updated iPhone to 16.6. Unsure if that’s the issue of I’d the app isn’t modified for 16.6. I’m definitely keeping it and I have backup apps. Just wanted to let you know

Worthless

Severe thunderstorm moved through yesterday with 60 mph winds. I received No notifications. I checked all my settings and everything is on. Broke my umbrella not happy. Thanks City for recommending this app!

Irrelevant alerts

I deleted the app (was recommended by the local sheriffs office though I don’t see why) because I’m getting alerts that are not relevant to my area. Some alerts I get are for Tucson …. Over an hour away that don’t even include my town.

Asleep on the Job

It used to send me the occasional weather alert, but never kept up with all the things that other agencies were alerting me to -- and now it's just dead. Tried reinstalling it even -- nothing.

Not very informative

We have a wildfire just down the road. Huge planes dropping retardant, fire trucks everywhere, getting text from my county department of public safety, but not a single alert or anything from this app. Great for letting me know about red flag conditions though. 🤷‍♂️ Excuse me, I have to get ready to evacuate now.

Doesn’t work

Can’t search by zip code or city/state as advertised to add to a list of monitored locations. It forces you to enable location services I’d guess. Can’t say for sure because I can’t get it to work on my iPhone 12.

Hello steve-of-indiana, Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced. Expired alerts can be hidden using the 3 dots in the top right corner. Please let us know if you have any other feedback or suggestions at https://support.konexus.com/kb-tickets/new.
