Unreliable

Do NOT rely on this to save your life, or even warn you of potential danger. The sheer lack of notices should be criminal for an app that claims to alert you to potential danger.

Took HOURS to get emergency notifications regarding the tsunami in Hawai’i. After the trama of the wild fires I have this app to provide me up-to-the-minute emergency updates. NOT to not get any notifications and when I do open the app it’s unable to even load my location.

Does not work

Even during a wildland fire where we were evacuated and a later tsunami advisory, there were absolutely no alerts. Do not rely upon this app.

Phantom Notifications

Notifications come on and they never go away. It is so annoying. Sometimes you get a notification, open the app only to be greeted by a spinning icon without anything loaded. Completely useless.

What’s this fraud notification?

I just got a notification from myAlerts talking about a potential “fraud” transaction that posted to my <enter bank name> and to call a number to block transaction. First, I had to remind myself what this app was since I don’t recall proving any app with access to any of my bank accounts. When I realized this app normally provided me with weather alerts, it became clear that (a) they’ve been hacked or (b) they’ve start committing fraudulent messages and notification to scam users. Either way, this is app a “quickly uninstall this app as fast as possible” to avoid being scammed in the future. USER BEWARE!

Unreliable

We were under tornado watch and severe weather alert due to damaging winds/hail. The app was blank. No alerts no data. Nothing. Do not rely on this.

What types of alerts can I receive?

You can receive severe weather alerts directly from the National Weather Service, public safety alerts for incidents like active shooters or hazardous materials, and community notifications for events like road closures or power outages. Alert types and availability may vary based on your location and participating agencies.

Is the myAlerts app free to use?

Yes, the myAlerts app is free to download and use. There are no in-app purchases or advertisements mentioned in the provided description.

How does the app know where to send alerts?

The app uses a 'My Locations' feature where you can add and save places that are important to you. You can also enable location monitoring to receive alerts wherever you are currently located, ensuring you get timely information relevant to your surroundings.

What if my area isn't covered by public safety alerts?

If your location is not covered by a Konexus-connected public safety agency, you will still receive severe weather alerts. However, you will not receive local public safety or community notifications. To request coverage, you can contact your local public safety office and ask them to join Konexus.
