Excellent

This is really simple, easy to use, and accurate. I'm hoping for an Apple Watch complication soon, but it's great just being able to see it in glances as well.

Does not work well

This thing does not work very well. It still has bugs! It would not sync with my phone. (iPhone 6 plus). It was not accurate, in fact I had to reboot my Apple Watch every time to get this thing to sync to my phone and give an accurate reading. While my phone would pull up the app and the altimeter would show an accurate reading however the watch would not display the correct elevation. It was only after when I would have to restart my Apple Watch would it finally sync and give an accurate reading. This would happen every single time. Nothing wrong with my Apple Watch because I sync all other apps, text messages, etc from my phone to my Apple Watch. This thing has bugs.

Barometric altimeter

As a barometric altimeter this app fails to be of much use. There is currently no way to calibrate the sensor at this time. So accuracy can be off by several hundred feet. Therefore only the GPS altimeter can be used. Not ready for prime time.

Functional and simple

Often apps display unnecessary extras. Not this app. This does exactly what it states and puts that information front and center. Locations tested have all been accurate.

Handy

Comes in handy when I am in bed and trying to sleep. I often like to check how high I am

FAQ

What does myAltitude do?

myAltitude turns your iPhone or iPad into a free altimeter, showing your current elevation above sea level in meters and feet. It uses your device's GPS and, on supported models, the built-in barometer for accurate readings. It also includes an Apple Watch app for convenient wrist-based altitude checks.

How accurate is the altitude reading?

The accuracy of the altitude reading depends on your device's GPS capabilities. On supported iOS 8 devices like the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and iPad Air 2, the app can use the built-in barometer for extremely accurate altitude values. However, the app is intended for casual use and should not be relied upon for critical purposes.

Is myAltitude free to use?

Yes, myAltitude is a free application. While the core functionality of displaying altitude is free, the presence of in-app purchases suggests there might be optional features or enhancements available for purchase.

What devices is myAltitude compatible with?

myAltitude works on devices with built-in GPS, such as iPhones and iPads. It also features an Apple Watch app, allowing you to check your altitude directly from your wrist. For optimal performance, ensure location services are enabled for the app.

Can I share my altitude with others?

Yes, myAltitude includes a handy sharing feature that allows you to share your current altitude with friends and family. You can share directly from the app over platforms like Facebook and Twitter.
